She's 18. Had had a stressful few months with A levels.
Symptoms are: feeling oddly disconnected. Tingling in hands. Numb lips. Tired.

She is refusing to ring the gp as she's not feeling traditionally ill iyswim.

First i thought anxiety and tiredness. Now im not so sure.

Could she have taken anything you're not aware of?

Insist she goes to the gp.

Bredsza · 03/09/2019 10:19

She promises she hasn't. She smoked a bit of weed at a festival three weeks ago!

I'd try and persuade her to contact GP, she might have eaten something different and had an allergic reaction.

For how long has she had these feelings?

8by8 · 03/09/2019 10:33

Could it be B12 deficiency? That can cause numbness/tingling/feeling “out of it”.

She definitely needs blood tests - B12 deficiency is very dangerous if untreated.

Broken11Girl · 03/09/2019 10:34

Anxiety would be my estimation. Is she going to uni/ college? Travelling? Could be stress about that.
Could also be a deficiency in iron, and vitamin B12 or D etc. I'd get her to make a GP appointment for blood tests and to discuss the symptoms generally, explain she doesn't have to be acutely ill to go and it's important to make sure it's nothing serious, and if it is just eg low iron fat better to treat it with a simple supplement now, than wait for her to get ill and do permanent damage.

Ive just googled b12 deficiency and dd was a vegan for a while and still eats very little meat and almost no dairy. I will get her to ring the gp.

Sounds like typical anxiety.

I had this at around the same age.
It could be something else entirely but that disconnected feeling along with tingly hands and lips was exactly what I used to feel.

Greyhound22 · 03/09/2019 11:05

I get similar with B12 deficiency/anaemia

FloofenHoofen · 03/09/2019 14:29

Anxiety.
