I was just reading this article in the Daily Fail and I must admit sometimes I wish I had enough money to just disappear and leave all the stress and worry behind me. I would like to fly off to some secret exotic hideaway and live there for the rest of my life. Then I remember I have a family who needs to me look after them and how devastated they would be if I no longer was in their lives.

Yes. And I have done it although not very exotic. In the 90s (before dcs) I did a horribly stressful job, and had a stalkerish ex and a family who were busy feuding.

I went to a country hotel in Scotland who got used to me appearing out of season.
I’d eat seafood and sleep and walk round lochs for a couple of days alone. Sanity time.

Yes. When my mental health was the worst it has ever been a few years ago all I wanted to do was leave and run away.
It would never have worked as it would all have come with me.
