Are these spider legs?? I've just found them in the bath, no other sign of spider carcass anywhere. It would be one bloody big fucker!

Pen in the last photo is for size purposes.

I am horrified 😱😱😱😱

Jesse70 · 02/09/2019 15:11

Wow u must have one really buckled spider running around

DeborahAnnabelToo · 02/09/2019 15:13

Yes and probably from a house spider. There s a lot of them around at the moment, the males come out looking for females to breed with

Catbrat · 02/09/2019 15:15

Looks like it to me, we have had some huuuge ones recently, we hardly ever get spiders in this house but we have had several this week.
I was putting some washing away in my DD bedroom when I heard a paper h&m shopping bag rattle, turned around to see a spider emerging next to it, it was that bloody big the bag was moving and making a house.
Now I'm not scared of spiders and usually don't have any problem catching them but even I called my OH to deal with that one Shock

Catbrat · 02/09/2019 15:16

Making a noise*

SheChoseDown · 02/09/2019 15:16

I had two spider legs in my bath yesterday. I asked OH I'd he'd been murdering or trapping them and he said no.... He'd never leave any evidence of the bastards behind. Tut.
Anyway there are many legless spiders roaming around it appears

TheSultanofPingu · 02/09/2019 15:22

Yes, an even bigger spider probably pulled them off.

ISayWhatNow · 02/09/2019 16:18

Sultan - Noooooo 😱😱😱😱

Oh Lord, I was hoping you'd all say it's a strange kind of plant. One that looks similar to spider legs.

I did actually come within a hair's breadth of having a massive spider in my hair at the weekend. I was standing with my back to the cooker and it came dangling down from the hood. I noticed a black thing out of the corner of my eye and I have NEVER moved so fast.

In fact, I think I have a photo of it.....

Cat - burn your house down immediately. You know it's your only option..... 🕷🕷🕷

Do you have a cat? When my two old cats were still alive we'd often find spiders legs like that up and down the house, they would basically catch any spiders they found, prod them with their paws and pull their legs off. Thus killing them! People who hate spiders should really consider getting a cat as they make great spider catchers!

ISayWhatNow · 03/09/2019 00:02

I have two cats. I must make sure that they are trained in the art of spider slaying!

I think one of them must have had the spider last night because the legs were in the bath and he's been in the bath this evening looking expectant. I think it probably came up through the plug hole 😱🕷

OP posts:
Treaclebee · 03/09/2019 00:05

Getting out of bed to go out the plugs in every sink in the house.

Treaclebee · 03/09/2019 00:06

PUT the plugs

AHintOfStyle · 03/09/2019 00:09

Is it one of those ones when 2 have sex the male loses a leg each time??
In which case you've also got a horny AF huge female one running about as well!!

Nononoandno · 03/09/2019 00:25

Yes it’s spider season...A donkey of a spider landed on my arm yesterday before falling on the laminate floor.... I heard it hit the floor 🙈.... last night I was still jumpy so as going up to bed scanning walls and floors checking and saying to myself “your being paranoid there’s no spiders in my room but check anyway for piece of mind” then I reached to close my bedroom window and right on the frame next to where I was about to reach another donkey ... I could swear it’s the same one that found it’s way back, I ran to get a glass and it had gone when I returned.... I grabbed my pillow and left my bedroom to sleep in the spare room (obvs closing my bedroom door behind me) .... oh btw I always check under my duvet before getting in bed and on a number of occasions found 🕷 in my bed. I’m not not normally jumpy but after yesterdays trauma I am more so this year. 🙈

Nononoandno · 03/09/2019 00:32

I know they come into mate this time of year but where do they lay their eggs? 🤔🙈

ISayWhatNow · 03/09/2019 09:28

In an egg sac. Shudder.

I too was so jumpy around the house last night, convinced I was going to see some horrible bugger ready to pounce 😱.

My dd had one in her room last night and screamed for me but by the time I got there the horrible thing had disappeared. I vacuumed around her room thoroughly but no sign of it.

"Mummy have you caught the spider?"

"Yes." (No).

She then went to sleep happy and reassured and I felt very guilty that this monster could have stalked her all night 😳

I have 4 cats and they are all lazy buggers as they cant be arsed with the spiders we get.

Cheeseoncrumpets · 03/09/2019 11:01

The cat has probably eaten the spider OP, thats what ours used to do. One of my earliest memories is being sat in my parents greenhouse and watching our family cat eat a huge black spider, I cant have been anymore than about three or four but I can still remember the crunching sound.

Im sure thats where my phobia started. Before then they didnt bother me.

My thoughts, too! Our little black cat loved pulling the legs off them!
