Did you date a famous person before they became famous?

Playing some old songs on Spotify and reminiscing... which made me think of friends that I’ve lost touch with...

My friend at school dated a guy who went onto become a famous footballer. The got married, but divorced later due to her infidelity. He was a really nice guy. We are all over 50 now, and not in touch any more.

Anyone else got a touch of the nostalgias today?

Not dated...but I did snog a footballer who wasn’t very famous outside of his club’s fan base at the time, but became quite the national star during the last World Cup.
He was very nice.
Not the world’s most mind blowing kiss, but not bad either

Not 'dated' but when I was at college I had one date with a guy who became a pretty well known comedian. He was boring.

Also met a band member from a v. popular 90s group on a night out, this was about 6 years ago. Any childhood crush I had evaporated on the spot...he was pissed as a fart and dressed like a tramp

When I was 16 I went out with someone in a band. They went on to become world famous and he is worth about £30 million now!!

Was asked out in several occasions by well know lead singing of English indie band (not saying any more than that!) 😂 anyway I turned him down a few times then he asked out one of my friends they ended up together for years after.
Nice bloke still see him in the area occasionally. People always 😮 when it’s brought up in conversation that he fancied me as he’s a rocker now and I’m mrs. Local councillor woman now 😂

An ex of mine has become quite a famous comedian! He was a real sweetie and I'm happy for his success.

My ex's mum went out with one of Status Quo before he became famous. I always remember it was Rick Parfitt, but her subsequent DH is very similar to Francis Rossi, so maybe it was him and she had a type. Either way, it was one of them!

Aged about 16, had a snog with an unusually attractive chap who was passing through the shite rural backwater I lived in (think he was mates with someone there). He wanted more than I was prepared to give. Ended up a bit of a twat.
He said his name was John Taylor...

A few days later I saw him and his band on TOTP. It wasn't JT, it was Le Bon :-O

Not before they were famous, but when they were already famous in their industry. But I knew long before they became famous.

Oh ffs I know the DM print some crap but 'A random MNer once snogged (insert name here)' isn't newsworthy even for them.

If people are only saying they knew/went out with/snogged someone BEFORE they were famous it's no big deal

My dad snogged Kate Bush weeks before she was on Top of the Pops.

I was asked out by a guy who had just started in EastEnders (I worked with his cousin) but didn't believe it was him so said no. He's done quite well.

I hate these threads when people don't give names...

So I will! I snogged Prince Harry when I was at uni!! A friend of a friend invited her (and me just because I was visiting!) to Chinawhite and we met up with her and her friends which included Harry and Tom Inskip as well as other "well to do" types! The champagne and cocktails were flowing and someone mentioned that I was from up north (which was highly amusing to the etonions ). There was some (quite nasty looking back) banter about me being a bit of rough and I was quite upset at one point. Harry took me to one side and told me not to listen and we had a cheeky snog! Was more of a lingering peck but still!! He was lovely and very charming! Can't say the same for his friends though!

I’ve never dated anyone famous, but my friend used to date Uma Thurman back in the day. My dh has worked in a round about way with David Beckham. I did some charity work and some international travel with Alan Cumming (he’s amazingly lovely!). We got drunk on martinis at a very posh restaurant in Beijing and had a celebrity run in with a celebrity who is definitely gay but sadly quite closeted. No more claim to fame than that sadly.
