Mine start on Thursday. We are also skint, but thankfully quite busy (lots of errands though)! Trying to close my eyes to the mess for the next few days Grin

ThisIsNotAIBUPeople · 02/09/2019 10:38

Yep, mine need some routine and structure now, school shoes and uniform all bought and ready to go. Not looking forward to getting us all up and out of the house though!

bigchris · 02/09/2019 10:44

Ha me neither

I can't wait to go back to work !

Yep same.

The dragging out is now torturous.

I'm really fed up of the cost of activities, constant prepping of food and my messy house

bigchris · 02/09/2019 10:49

I think it's because today is Monday start of new week and Sept ember new beginnings etc

But still we're on sodding holidays Grin

DS starts school this year but doesn't have his first day for two weeks yet. I'm losing the will to live!

HalyardHitch · 02/09/2019 10:58

Eldest goes back to preschool on Wednesday. We're just bumming around the house today tidying up and getting organised. I'm really going to try to stay tidy this next couple of days so Wednesday everything feels like a clean slate never going to happen

sillysmiles · 02/09/2019 11:00

Get them to help empty wardrobes and clear out clothes that are too small or those kind of jobs.

Zoflorabore · 02/09/2019 14:48

Ds (16) started at 6th form college today. He has Aspergers and anxiety and is gutted that his school doesn't have a 6th form but I think he's going to love it and loads of his friends are going too but they're all doing different things.

He was up at 5.30am today making himself look gorgeous Grin

Dd starts year 4 tomorrow and can't wait. She said 6 weeks is too long and I very much agree!

Lots of school uniform to iron tonight.

SpeedyShutter · 02/09/2019 15:12

Yes, same here. Dc tried on their uniforms on Saturday (bloody good job we double checked because ds' trousers were huge!) and I took some 'back to school' photos but they don't actually go back until Wednesday. I have no money left (well, we hardly had any in the first place), we haven't got much in in the way of food, I have a banging headache and raging period pains and would love to sit in silence in the dark but can't.

One dc is playing out and all sounds well but as soon as the other goes and joins in all hell breaks loose because he lacks the social skills to cope when other kids argue or change the rules of the game or say something he doesn't like. I'm so tired of having to try to deal with that day in, day out and with trying to give him those skills and modelling what to say and what to do in different situations. Then I read about parents who are dreading their dc going back because they've had such a lovely summer and it just makes my situation feel even worse.

HakunaM · 02/09/2019 15:19

I've just realised I only have two nights to get them back from 10pm-9am sleeping to 8pm-7am sleeping. I have left it too late haven't I?

DavetheCat2001 · 02/09/2019 15:30

I am counting down to Wednesday too..I have no money and no motivation for the last 2 days. Kids have had a great summer, but apart from a run around the park earlier, they are pretty much watching films this afternoon and I AM NOT FEELING GUILTY!! Grin

BarkandCheese · 02/09/2019 15:39

Mine starts secondary tomorrow. I’m very grateful that today she’s been invited to keep a friend company while friend’s little brother catches up with classmates at a picnic at a local country park. She’s probably bored of watching seven year olds screaming around by now, but if she was at home she’d be winding herself up about tomorrow so at least it’s a distraction.

Ratbagcatbag · 02/09/2019 15:44

Mine starts back tomorrow.
She's broken her leg (2 weeks ago) so it limited our plans for last week. Spent a lot on activities and today we are just binge watching films. She's in the bath at 6:30 and bed by 7. I'm counting it down. We've had some good days but she's a grumpy mare today and I want her back in routine.

HumphreyCobblers · 02/09/2019 15:56

I thought my youngest was off to school this morning, got him all dressed in his uniform, packed lunch in bag, managed all the "NOOOOO SCHOOOLLLLLL" yells etc only to realised that the bit of website saying "term starts 2nd September" had another paragraph underneath stating that there were two inset days at the beginning of term. I am such an idiot.

Gutted doesn't begin to cover it. He is a delightful child but has significant SN and takes up a great deal of my time and attention. I had promised DD some relaxing time with me, making cupcakes in peace without any 'help' Grin

Waxonwaxoff0 · 02/09/2019 15:56

DS starts back on Thursday. I'm working tomorrow but off on Wednesday to spend the last day with him.

Skint here too though so it will probably just be the park and screen time. Grin

larry5 · 02/09/2019 16:01

Dd is a teacher so back at school for inset and sil is at home today so I have dgs from tomorrow so as all of you are looking forward to not having children around I will be looking after a toddler. Mind you I do love having him here.

Enjoy your freedom as once they are back at school life with children is much less spontaneous.

PhantomErik · 02/09/2019 16:14

My 3 (DD10, DS9 & DS7) go back on Thursday but we're having a lovely day!

Dd has a new friend round & they've played together beautifully all day. My mum has taken both ds's swimming & is dropping them home after tea so I've had a quiet day knowing my dd is really happy (she's had some friendship issues lately) I've caught up on washing & cleaning & had lots of cups of tea with a bit of MNetting - bliss!

Tomorrow we're going to the library to finish the reading challenge & then to buy school shoes for ds9. Then we're off to buy some sweets & then tea with MIL (who has a huge garden the dc love playing in).

Wednesday will be a quiet morning & then picnic in the park if the weather's nice. Hopefully meeting a friend & her dc there.

Actually a little sad they're going back on Thursday but I'll survive Grin

Can't wait for mine to go back now

DS1 is back next Monday, DS2 on Thursday. I've spent today frantically trying to buy school trousers, DS1 is tidying the house as he's having a party tonight and DS2 is out with his friends family and staying over for a sleep over tonight. I'm planning my "quiet" evening, hidden in my bedroom with the dog whilst keeping an eye on the hoards of teenagers heading our way... yay..

Rest of the week will be spent trying to wear DS2 out so he gets back into a better sleep pattern Confused

CakeNinja · 02/09/2019 17:14

I was back today but have 2 days of inset. 2 of mine go back Wednesday and one goes back on Thursday.
It was a welcome break to go back to work and not listen to pointless ramblings FROM CHILDREN for hours and hours, sadly there was a lot of it from adults Grin

Waxonwaxoff0 · 02/09/2019 17:27

larry5 I have had to work all summer (bar one week off), life in the school holidays isn't free or spontaneous for us, it's just dropping DS off at pricey childcare instead of at school!

JapaneseBirdPainting · 02/09/2019 17:40

Yeah- i worked all summer as we are two staff down. I feel like I have just wasted everything and feel so regretful. I called DH today from work and asked him what he thought about me going part time at least from next year. I feel like I am missing out on the Dcs childhoods!

burntthepasta · 02/09/2019 17:46

One of mine is back Wednesday, the other Thursday and another starts college on the 16th. Oh and the naughtiest one doesn't go back to pre school until next Monday 🙈 I've stocked up on alcohol to get me through 🍷 the holidays have gone so fast but this last week is dragging!

PenelopeChipShop · 02/09/2019 18:15

Came on here to say the same thing!! We have had a relatively nice time but it just feels too long now.

I’m a single parent and bc i’ve been at home in order to care for a sick grandparent and support my mum who has cancer, the kids dad decided to go abroad for three weeks of the summer hols. Normally we would coordinate around work. So for nearly a month I had no support with the kids whatsoever, and was caring for my Nan with them in tow. She passed away this week and my mum has promptly had a sort of freak out and gone away, leaving me to plan the funeral.

Knackered doesn’t even begin to describe it, I feel broken. Today I have literally just said to the kids, mummy is too tired to play, you two play together. Oh and I had to take them to the undertaker with me for a meeting!!

When they’re both finally back next week I will be decamping to a beauty salon on the one day I don’t have to work!!!!

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 02/09/2019 18:20

My DD is going into year 8 on wednesday. I've just had a week off work and going back tomorrow. Need routine again.
