Actually, just noticed it’s only got 6 legs?! Is it even a spider?

False widow missing legs

Jesse70 · 01/09/2019 22:01

Looks like a zebra spider
Maybe it's been in an accident?

Hawkmoth · 01/09/2019 22:03

Garden Spider. You can pop it outside with no guilt.

Disfordarkchocolate · 01/09/2019 22:05

I've one of those living on a shrub in my garden, it's good at catching wasps!!

DontGoIntoTheLongGrass · 01/09/2019 22:05

Can I showcase my monster? That picture's like 40cm wide BTW..

Gabrielknight · 01/09/2019 22:06

Well it's definitely not a false widow. Looks like a zebra spider whose been in an accident. Just pop him outside

Notallthat · 01/09/2019 22:09

Garden cross spider, you can just make out the white cross in the picture and the stripey legs.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 01/09/2019 22:10

Does it skit around super fast?? Had a couple of these this year which I’ve not noticed before! I also noticed the 6 leg thing. I’m sure there’s 2 more hiding somewhere probably. I just left them alone and let them eat the flies 😄

twolobsters · 01/09/2019 22:12

Garden spider, they often look like they're missing legs when i see them outside

DishingOutDone · 01/09/2019 22:42

Yeah I've seen them, when you are not looking they flip out some more legs.

WantLifeToBeBetter · 01/09/2019 22:44

Just a normal outside spider. Deffo not a false widow.

DishingOutDone · 01/09/2019 22:45

Its a fucking spider. As in "arrrgghhhh there's a fucking spider!!"

Iputthescrewinthetuna · 01/09/2019 23:00

Not a false widow, this is the false widow we had last week.
Not sure about this one but I would be happy to pick him up with glass and paper and pop him in garden.

Jesus LongGrass thats massive, are you ok with them?

FoxFoxSierra · 02/09/2019 07:56

Longgrass I think yours is a harvest spider, we've had loads of them in our house the last few days, they're huge!

littlemeitslyn · 02/09/2019 08:37

Suppose spiders do fuck otherwise there'd be no babies

thenewaveragebear1983 · 02/09/2019 11:19

Are these the garden spiders that build the huge webs? We have one that builds a web, every night, across our porch entrance (about 2mts wide)
I've always thought they were harmless, typically come out this time of year?

DontGoIntoTheLongGrass · 02/09/2019 12:33

Stonerosie no I'm petrified! Got Dh to tackle it but he let it drop on the floor with a splat. It was ridiculously fast too so he said oh I'll just have to leave it. Fuck no you won't!!! It was in the bedroom too. I made him hunt for it until he found it 😁 was really big haha. Leggy bastard!

DontGoIntoTheLongGrass · 02/09/2019 12:36

It wasn't a harvest spider. It was a mutated form of house spider. Horrible thing. Huge with two longer front legs and moved at the speed of a cheetah.

Stonerosie67 · 02/09/2019 17:25

Haha, loving your description LongGrass totally with you, no way could I have slept with that in the house!
