Not a taat but another thread reminded me of something that happened years ago that has always unsettled me.
I was about 20, a student, and studied until late at night, when I would frequently go for walks, sometimes in a slightly dodgy housing estate.
Once, a car headed in the same direction as me overtook me, did a U turn, and kerb crawled in my direction. It then pulled up next to me. It was a small red car containing three men, two in front and one in back. They were all staring at me. One half got out of the car and asked me where I was going. I didn't answer and kept walking. He then said that he and his mates were police, and I matched the description of a girl who had run away from a care home, and I needed to get in the car to be taken to the station. He invited me to come and see his ID which he flashed. I didn't move towards him or make any move to comply - in fact, I had quietly put my keys between my fingers, which I think he saw. He then spoke into a walkie talkie/ brick phone and said it was okay, I could go in fact.
Do you think they were real police or up to no good?
