I think I've put a spider in my chilli

Got the slow cooker out, it's clean (or so I thought Blush) did the onions etc threw it in the slow cooker and ran my spoon around the edge, I suddenly wasn't sure if it was a small bit of onion or a dead spider I'd whipped into the mix. I can't eat it...I haven't told dh, I should probably keep the info to myself shouldn't I? Confused

Yes don't tell him!

BrokenWing · 31/08/2019 12:03

🤮 it was probably an onion.

QueenOfIce · 31/08/2019 12:05

I had a good fish around and couldn't find anything but now I can't eat it!

You could open a restaurant with the poster from last week who made a lasagne with a wasp in it Grin

Perhaps they're nutritious and I'll add that little 'extra' to the flavour Confused

What makes you think it was a spider?

PickleSarnie · 31/08/2019 12:10

I once found a tiny caterpillar in a raspberry.

Now I just don't look inside raspberries before I eat them. I've probably eaten loads over the year and haven't died.

Just convince yourself it was definitely a spider shaped bit of onion and you'll be fine

QueenOfIce · 31/08/2019 12:11

I don't know perhaps it was tomato and onion and my brain went into it's a spider..we've had loads in the house this week. Maybe this will send out a warning to others who might want to move in.

It’ll just add that extra je ne sais quoi. Maybe leave it off the list if anyone asks for the recipe, though? Wink

SquirellTamer · 31/08/2019 12:34

OP, I'm like that kid in the sixth sense film this week. I see huge spiders everywhere.

Falafel19 · 31/08/2019 12:36

It'll be grand, extra protein! Grin

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 31/08/2019 13:29

Technically, if it was a spider, you'll have added the partially digested remains of at least one fly as well. Plus whatever the fly ate before it was caught.

IVEgottheDECAF · 31/08/2019 13:33

There was an old lady who swallowed a spider ....

QueenOfIce · 31/08/2019 13:33

@JesusInTheCabbageVan 🤢🤮

Spiders have an exoskeleton - I trod on a massive one once and it crunched. So if you feel anything hard in your forkful just spit it out.

I quite like spiders but honestly I think I'd feel like you and have to just not eat it.

I wouldn't be so bothered about any juices they'd sucked out of critters though.

On the plus side, everyone can have a leg - like with the MN chickenSmile
