so there are plenty of threads on words you don't like - possibly some threads on word you like...

I was listening to the radio and I heard "acquiescence" (yes I had to use spellcheck) I really like that!

What words do you like?

Antidisestablishmentarianism.

It was my Dad's favourite long word.

As long words go, I also love humuhumunukunukuapuaha.

Oops spelled humuhumu wrong. Ends with a'a instead of aha.

Hawaiian words can be such a challenge. Love the name Liliuokalani too. The last sitting monarch of Hawaii. A very brave woman. She was imprisoned in the Iolani Palace, which is still there and used as the headquarters of Hawaii 5-0 in the latest series. If you tour the palace you will see a quilt she made while imprisoned.

My friends from the NE have a sort of casserole/corned beef hash dish called panackelty. It's a much better word than what we call it where I live (tatie pot) as it really sums up how you make it: a bit of all your leftover meat and veg thrown in a pan!
