Blocking anonymous/scam/unsolicited sales calls on phone

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has any advice about how to block these types of calls as they're FUCKING ME RIGHT OFF.

We've considered losing the landline altogether, but mobile signal and 3/4G is patchy and we have fairly frequent power cuts in the winter, so really would prefer to retain it if possible. Cost is a pressure, so relativley cheap ideas wold be very welcome!

I thought of changing our number, but if numbers are reused, won't the calls just begin again?

If someone could invent a grenade that will go off at the other end of the phone when I pick it up, that'd be grand. not really

If you have any devices, which ones are they and what are the pros and cons? I'd really apreciate any suggestions.

If you’re with BT they have a free service that stops these calls. Some get through though and BT give you a code to dial after the call that then blocks the number.

Do they? I didn't know about that. I'll take a look. Thank you!

We have a True-Call device, which plugs between your phone and the socket. www.truecall.co.uk/ It cost about £100 when we bought it, but it's been worth every penny. You can set it to "zap" unwanted numbers, so they get a message saying you don't want to talk to them; and when anyone calls you can hear who it is before you pick up. Best of all, it also works for overseas numbers like call-centres, which don't get banned by the TPS. It also works as an answering machine.

Are you registered with the telephone preference service google TPS. Simple takes up to a week to stop all calls.

You can do it for mail as well. It’s amazing how much junk mail l done receive anymore.

Good luck

When you fill in your Household Enquiry Form (to state who lives in your house for voting), also tick the box that says something like “not on the public electoral roll”.
