We’re on holiday with our LO and rather than bring our electric steriliser, I bought a Milton cold water steriliser box and tablets.

It’s great, 5 litres of water plus 1 tablet; put the bottles etc in for 15 minutes.
Job done.
Except, the bottles have a really strong smell to them when they come out of the fluid... is this normal?
I dry the bottle outers off and the fluid seems to have bleached the tea towel a bit... normal?
DP reckons the fluid makes his hands tingle but he’s a wuss!

Yes. Milton is bleach. Same as domestons et al.

So yes it may have a chlorine smell, and may bleach clothes etc.

Totally normal (and obviously safe or they wouldn’t be sold).

How old is your baby? If you (or they) don’t like the smell washing in hot soapy water or a dishwasher will be fine unless they are very young or have preexisting issues.

Thank you - I don’t think she’s bothered by it; I was concerned I’d misread the instructions some how and needed to pay Milton rinse which in my mind would have reversed the effect!

She’s 7 months and has discovered dummies and Sippy cups are fun to throw on the floor... we’re staying on a farm so I want to sterilise the thrown stuff particularly!
