DP is really suffering after an afternoon drinking in the sun yesterday. How can I help him? What are your best hangover cures?

Lots of fluids, sugar and salty snacks, in bed watching tv

Funghi · 25/08/2019 11:12

Instead of sipping water I have diarolyte. It tastes nice and rehydrates is stops that awful banging headache and overall gets me on the mend much quicker.

Other than that I think get him a fan and leave him to nap in a dark room.

"Can't be doing with people who trot out the "self-inflicted" stuff"

He has a hangover, he's not dying. He'll be fine. 🙄

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 25/08/2019 11:44

Yes of course he will be fine but op is asking for any tips for him right now. Nothing wrong with that.

Orange juice watered down, coke, a banana, carbs later. And sleep.

He’ll have to write off the day unfortunately and not repeat it any time soon!

peachypetite · 25/08/2019 11:45

He's an adult. There's nothing you can do to get rid of a hangover except wait it out.

PotatoShape · 25/08/2019 11:47

Alcohol is a poison, literally an actual poison. People die from one night of bingeing on it.
So, he has my sympathy. It's pure hell.
Maybe a codeine to help him get some sleep??
Point a fan at him to slightly distract him from the awful way he feels??

ImpracticalCape · 25/08/2019 11:47

Berocca. Dioralyte. Nurofen. Cup of tea. More sleep.
Then something fatty sugary and carby. McDonald's. Fish finger sandwich. Full fat coke in sips. If he's not feeling it yet, marmite or cheese on toast in nibbles.
More sleep
Evening. Probably spaghetti bol, fish and chips or shepherds pie.

Take it from me. I've had more hangovers than hot dinners however the best cure I've found is a 5k barefoot run along a beach and a 3k sea swim but if this is not available then the measures above will get him right by Antiques Roadshow.

Nearlyadoctor · 25/08/2019 12:09

Fresh air always makes me feel slightly better, sweet cup of tea and sleep.

GertrudeCB · 25/08/2019 12:12

Sounds like hangover plus heatstroke. Grim.
Iced lollies or sips of water. Ibuprofen and Andrew's powders/ Alka seltzer.
Keep him out of the sun. Can he stomach dry toast?

Catmar · 25/08/2019 12:14

@TrendyNorthLondonTeen I'm aware that "he'll be fine" Hmm

Thanks to everyone else for the tips and sympathy Smile

Oh and ignore all the holier than thou's.
99% of the population have over indulged at some point, I'm certainly old enough to know better but did the same on holiday Blush

TrendyNorthLondonTeen · 25/08/2019 13:10

I literally have a hangover right now.

Starlight2004 · 25/08/2019 15:48

Full fat coke in small sips stops the sickness, buscopan pills if u have them for the sickness and nausea. One of those cool packs or just a ice pack for the head and a long nap! Then later food!
