Do you have a family screen time policy?

I am thinking of implementing some rules for all the family regarding screen use.

3 dds aged 18, 16 and 12. I don't monitor the older two much, they are quite good at self regulating and try to reduce use if they been on screens too much. I limit the 12 year old's phone use much to her annoyance. However she has recently bought herself a laptop so will just use that instead if the phone time runs out!

We don't allow phones in bedrooms overnight but that's the only rule at the moment. In the summer holidays things have really gone to pot, dd3 is up late watching stuff on her laptop (which is currently in her room). She says her sisters are allowed their laptops in their rooms.

With the new school year approaching, I want to put some rules into place for all of us. Although dh thinks that the same rules should NOT apply for adults and children.

Any ideas/suggestions please?

You’re going to use limits on adults? I’d laugh at you. The 18 year old shouldn’t be having limits either. You’re being very controlling

She says her sisters are allowed their laptops in their rooms.

So say she can have hers in her room when she's 16 (or whenever the 16 year old was allowed to)

@Deadsetgo I think it sets a good example to dc to see their parents not using their devices so much.
