I've noticed since finally coming off the pill for good now DH is going to have a vasectomy that about a week before my period is due I get anxious and irritable more so than usual I know there are loads of different supplements out there such as evening primrose/starflower oils and Agnus castus but not sure what to go for so some reviews and experiences would be handy!

Cutting out nearly all sugar helps me. It works as soon as you do it.

MrsL2016 · 24/08/2019 16:27

I swear by evening primrose oil and have recommended to at least 2 others who have commented on the difference it has made. I'm much calmer all month round.

Macca root.
Try organic burst.

I agree with low carb. Short periods, no symptoms. Fab.

Drogonssmile · 24/08/2019 16:47

I'd love to go no carb; I'm really struggling with will power though Blush I think sugar addiction is the culprit. Ok so I can start with my diet. I know on the one week I managed low carb I felt amazing but my resolve failed and I ended up back on the sugar/carbs. I find it so hard when feeding two small children. DH will pretty much eat anything. The kids love fruit though so I inevitably end up snacking on that.

Evening primrose oil is great. I ran out last month and could really tell the difference pmt wise. Good for aching boobs, irritation and mood swings. Well worth trying for a couple of months.

Also avoiding sugar. At least for about 10 days before your period is due but ideally all the time. Can't say I stick to this rigidly now but even just cutting down makes a huge difference.

EnidButton · 24/08/2019 17:02

(I mean refined sugar rather than fruit.)

RocketRacoonsFurryBalls · 24/08/2019 17:33

Absolutely ditch the sugary crap.

Supplementing zinc 15mg (WITHOUT added copper), GTF chromium 200 mcg, and magnesium 200mg (these are conservative amounts) should help address cravings.

I’ve found high EPA fish oil much better than evening primrose oil for the hurty boobs.

Make sure you get enough protein and good fats, lots of fibre, and strive for your five a day fruit n veg.

Branleuse · 24/08/2019 17:48

agnus castus

Drogonssmile · 24/08/2019 17:57

Ok thanks all. Will definitely try harder to cut down sugar. I'm certainly better than I was. My diet is relatively good as far as fruit and veg goes. Would I be best trying either agnus castus or EPO or could I try both?

Evening Primrose Oil is fab.

Cahu58 · 24/08/2019 19:31

Has to be decent quality of 1000mg per day and takes a couple
Of months to kick in
