Toys - can I get rid of over half of them?

We have one DC who’s nearly 5yrs old. But we have enough toys to satisfy about 20 kids. The clutter and chaos of it all is really getting me down. And to be honest they hardly ever get played with.

The only thing stopping me is.... what if she starts getting into puzzles when she’s 6? Or will she play sylvanian families in a few months?

At the moment she is only interested in crafts.

I want to have a huge clear out. Narrow down the toy options massively. Keep everything in clear labelled storage boxes.

Feeling overwhelmed!!

Can you box some up and put them away?

I'm planning a huge declutter... supposed to be getting the house valued and therefore need to streamline!

Can you rotate some?

Can you start by getting rid of the ones that you know she is no longer interested in and doesn't play with? Then could you store the ones she doesn't currently play with but think she may in the future? That way you don't have as many toys out at one time. My DN has Xmas and Birthday within weeks and gets so many toys all at once that my DSis keeps some back and brings new ones out every few months. Also if you're worries about your DD being upset about getting rid of toys it works quite well to say that she is done playing with them and it's time for other children who don't get as many toys to play with them. Donate them to charity shop together as an activity.

I would eBay the ones she has played with and is now bored with. Use the money for Christmas or birthday in future. She might get into some of the toys like Sylvanian families when she's a bit older put them away. You can always wrap them up for birthday presents in a few years she won't know.
