Nicest surprise you've had...?

Was feeling a bit sorry for myself earlier because I feel at the moment nobody “surprises” me with anything these days and I love surprises!Grin

Remembered one time for my 30th, my best friends and sister arranged a complete surprise and handed me an itinerary for a day out for us all at a lovely city, with a restaurant booked and train tickets all sorted- and even babysitters. I was so touched.

What was your best surprise?

My husband once surprised me at work on my birthday by bringing the kids and taking us all out for lunch. I don't normally get any more than 10 minutes to eat so he rang my colleague & asked if someone to cover me. The kids enjoyed it as much as me! 😀

DH made t-shirts for him and DC to wear on my 30th... It was my face, in shadow with a trendy typeface down one side... They wore them all day long, it really made me smile.

Small gestures: getting flowers from a relative after moving furniture around, it was a small task and I was so flummoxed when I got the flowers I kept asking the florist to check they were correct!

DH arranging a random night out: booked tickets for a singer I loved that doesn't tour much now, after ttea he said to DC "Right, you're going to Grandma and Grandpa's.... Getting a quick shower and change while we're gone, don't dress up" (bliss!)

Drove to venue and had a fab night, it was the arranging he did on the quiet that made it fab, there was no chance of my mum spilling the beans as she said "I've no bloody idea who he is" Grin

Best friend, who lives at the other end of the country, and I always watch or attend an annual event together. One year she couldn't make it. Event day came, there was a knock at the door and there she was! I was made up!

(Let that be a lesson to the non-door-openers Grin)

@StCharlotte haha yeah can you imagine your friend turning up to 90% of the MNetters who don’t answer their door without 6 months notice! I have visions of your poor friend desperately banging the shit out of the door and you quivering under the duvet calling 101 to log an intruder.

I'd had a rubbish day a few weeks back and text my best friend who lives 3 hours away to tell her how shit it all was.

About 5 minutes later my doorbell ring and there she was with a bottle of wine- she must have felt it in her bones 🤣

I love a surprise knock on the door!
