The unexpected wisdom of teenagers

I've long thought teenagers get an undeservedly bad rep, mostly, and having one has only strengthened that opinion. Every so often DD1 (15) comes out with a gem that makes me laugh or stops me in my tracks, sometimes both. This morning for example as her preteen sister stormed out dramatically over something trivial she said 'Don't worry, mum, I was much harder work as a 12 year old than as a teenager. Now I'm a teenager I'm too tired to have tantrums. I just come home from school, moan for a bit, then go to sleep.' Long may this exhausted self-awareness continue (it won't!) Have yours surprised you with unexpected pearls of wisdom?

“When you find yourself in tough rough, the best thing to do is play out sideways and get back on the fairway as quickly as possible”
It comes from a golf computer game and me teenage brother said it to me years ago. Never forgot the wisdom of it.
