I had a pretty horrific day yesterday. The results from a biopsy I had have shown my breast cancer is back and possibly spread.

To stop myself from completely breaking down I tried to book a trip away for the weekend with my partner. The kids are with their dad (reluctantly, may I add, apparently I am ridiculous for not wanting to face them right now)

So... I looked and looked but was pretty emotional and couldn’t find anything less that £500 pp - maybe his is a because it’s the bank holiday.

Then I booked tickets to Shambala festival - travelled there last night. The ticket company didn’t have them to download, despite the purchase going through. I have rang them and they are trying to sort it today. I told them if it’s not done by 10am I want a refund.

So now I’m back to looking at trips away. My budget is £500 pp for two nights. Anywhere that isn’t longer than a 2/3 flight. Also considering UK now but would rather something nice and seasidey obvs for less money, I don’t think I can justify £500+. For uk break

Flowers, OP. So sorry about your diagnosis and hope you are getting really good care.

I'd try Groupon, Wowcher, Expedia and Air BnB.

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis.

Where are you looking to fly from?

StealthPolarBear · 23/08/2019 06:30

So sorry op that is really shit.
The Premier Inn in Harrogate is lovely and much cheaper than your budget if you're interested

The weather this weekend is set to be AMAZING so why do t you go for a luxury hotel in the UK? You'll waste less time travelling too. Not sure where you are but Whitstabke is nice and has lots of amazing seafood restaurants

yearinyearout · 23/08/2019 06:34

If you go on sky scanner you can use the "explore" option, so you just put in your departure airport and dates, and it throws up a load of prices to different places. That might be a good place to start if you fancy going abroad.
That said, the weather is meant to be lovely here in the uk so why not check out booking.com, you could search a wide area (e.g. Devon) and see what's available

How far are you from the New Forest?

We recently went to Lime Wood and it was incredible - they have a special offer on a one night stay with dinner (in the amazing Angela Hartnett restaurant) and spa access (the spa is fantastic, plus the place has beautiful gardens etc). One night would take up most of your budget but would be worth it! Maybe if you give them a call they could do something on a second night for you - honestly if I were rich I’d be there every week!

Check flights to Belfast. Premier Inn in the Titanic quarter isn't too expensive. We had a lovely time there and less than an hours flight.

Sharpandshineyteeth · 23/08/2019 07:04

Thank you!! Am looking in the UK now. Flowers

So sorry about your diagnosis.
Unfortunately with it being bank holiday weekend demand and prices will be high. Have a look at trivago, they give you all the best rates for hotels.
If you wanted a city break, Madrid is usually pretty good prices at this time, but that's cause it's so hot.
