Restaurant Meson Andaluz - Beautiful restaurant with great menu and drinks - might need to book
Pasteis de Belem - Best custard tarts
Cantinho Do Aziz - Fantastic Mozambiquan good
Taberna de Leitao (and the bar next door serving pork sandwich snack) - Great food and relaxed drinks
Any bar in Al Fama for drinks and atmosphere

Thank you ladies. We're staying in Barrio Alto (?) which appears to be not far from Alfama (?) probably spelling both incorrectly. We are very excited!

pasteisdebelem.pt/en/ here for the custard tarts and the coffee. They sell good port as well.

The market at campo d'ourique is brilliant and you can order food then sit in the middle bit to eat it. Much better and more authentic than the time out one near the station I thought.

Ooh and if you're gluten free like me then there is an AMAZING gluten free bakery in Lisbon Grin

I mean every bakery selling the custard tarts should be sampled. I put on 4lbs when I went. 🤣DH found a place in Notting hill by accident that does authentic ones so I get treated to those. Glad I don't live nearby. I would be HUGE.

Time Out market food hall. Amazing selection of different food and drink stalls. You order your food from any stall, they give you a pager and you find a table in the middle and wait for your pager to go off to tell you your food is ready for collection (at least that was the system when we went a few years ago).

I'll second the Pasteis de Nata from Belem - although there's usually a long queue.

Cervejaria Ramiro for seafood. You'll need to be there before 6.30 or after 10 if you don't want to queue for ages though. Cafe Lisboa outside of the National Theatre, or any of the rest of the Jose Avillez empire - depends how far your budget stretches! I still dream of the "exploding" olives.

Thank you! We usually do a couple of bookings before we travel so I'll get on it!

Looks like a beautiful city. Has anyone been to the zoo? I love a nice happy zoo but I've heard it's a bit of a sad zoo and some of the large animals don't look like they have much space.
