What do these men have in common that attracts lovely young women to them so frequently? I assume they have magnetic personalities. Nick Knowles has another one. 30 years younger. It's probably just me but it makes me shudder.

It’s like football leagues: some players, whilst aspiring to the Premier League, just aren’t good enough and have to settle for the Fourth Division. So PH etc are down in the lower leagues, Mick Jagger is Premier League and Prince Harry is Man Utd 😉

The only good thing I can say about them is that there are worse, and one is Leader of the Conservative Party.

I wonder why, intelligent, successful men in late middle-age would choose women who are likely to have far less in common with them than similarly aged women. Duncan Banatyne is similar.
It is too lazy to say sex, I imagine many women of their own age, Nigella, Carol Vorderman, Liz Hurley etc. are pretty dam sexy.
I’m guessing it is the “haven’t I done well, I’m still a stud” message they believe they send to society and this alone shows their insecurities.
Jeff Bezos,55, Amazon boss, has recently started a relationship with Lauren Sánchez age 49. Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa have a six year age gap. (I have chosen to mention men not on their first marriage in order to be more relevant to GW, PH and NK). I am guessing these two men, whilst possibly not saints, have more to say and more to be proud of, than the men referred to in this thread. They do not need to prove they are worthwhile members of the human race by hanging a bimbo on their arm. I’m not sure they are the best examples but the first two that sprung to mind...
I do not mean to be offensive to the young women involved,I actually suspect these sparky women know exactly what the grizzly guy offers them, I just find it rather unlikely these particular self-obsessed minor celebrities choose them for their scintillating chat and their good, kind character.
Incidentally, I do believe love is blind to age in RL but your examples are serial ‘totty chasers’ who never seem to be with similarly aged partners.
As a society we should feel compassion for what they lack. I imagine it takes a pretty shallow member of the public to hold them up as ‘the old boy done good’.

I think it's the age old thing of some men failing to appeal to women their own age who see through them. Younger, more naive women are impressed by them and therefore attracted to them when women their own age give them a wide berth. At least two of this three seem to fall into that category.

I find Boris Johnson and Carrie much harder to fathom. Genuinely can't think what she sees in him. Apart from being PM and even then, really?

wowfudge · 21/08/2019 21:36

And he wasn't PM when they got together. Maybe she's a beard.

LizzieSiddal · 21/08/2019 21:52

I can watch GW and NK on TV, but PH turns my stomach. He’s revolting.

Robert Maxwell visited my workplace, this was in his later years and he was long past his best. A colleague, mid twenties, was enraptured by him. If he'd asked her she'd have gone home with him. What? Why? "It's the power" said she. "He can do anything. He knows everyone". Incomprehensible to me but such is the attraction of celebrity I guess.
