If you HATED learning to drive, did you ever start liking driving?

I hate it. I’m rubbish at it, I don’t like doing it. I find it so stressful. If you hated it, has that changed? Have you just accepted it? Or does it get better?

I'm in that category. I hated learning, failed four times over 13 years, kept putting it off and having panic attacks about it. Then I moved to the country and a very patient friend spent time driving around the quiet country roads with me until I got some confidence. I passed my test - finally - in a country village with only 4 roads and one set of lights.

Since then I've come to love driving - I often drive over 1,000km to visit my daughter, and also drive around the city with assurance and confidence. To me it's just time and experience that does it.

I used to be a nervous wreck,, dreading lessons. I love driving now!
I think the turning point was having children and having to do a lot of driving to take them to places (we live rurally) which built my confidence. And sat-nav and parking sensors mean less to worry about (weren’t a thing when I passed my test).
