Just re watched American Beauty

Wow... It was an excellent film. I didn't really get it at 19, first time round. I've been rewatching lots of late 90s movies.

Yes, it is a good film, but it probably doesn't get broadcast very often these days, due to what has transpired about Kevin Spacey's personal life over the last few years.
I found it quite multi layered - there was much more to it than a middle aged man trying to get off with his friend's daughter. It raised all sorts of other things, such as the reasons why someone might suffer a mid life crisis, the importance society places on material things and being financially comfortable, and how deceptive appearances can be. It was really funny too, at times. I think it won awards (or was at least nominated), so was rated quite highly by critics, at the time of its release.

I loved the film too and I felt bad for the main character at the end, but I bet it's a tough watch now though.

Exactly all that. I saw it previously a dirty old man. This time could see where he was coming from re wife and life. Felt for all the characters really. Wasn't the case against KS dropped?
