Does anybody go to concerts on their own?

I have a ticket for a concert that nobody else can join me in going to.

Am I mad to go by myself - it's a train and tube ride but I know London.

Will I be the only person with no mates? 😬

I go to gigs on my own all the time, my best mate and I met at a gig where we were both on our own! Loads of people do it. What's the concert?

EL8888 · 18/08/2019 18:02

I go to them on my own. I can arrive when l like, pick the pre-got food and go when l like. It suits me fine!

swanningpond · 18/08/2019 18:04

I’d love a night out on my own

No, its completely normal to do that, have a great time x

swanningpond · 18/08/2019 18:09

Have a spare ticket if anyone needs it!

I have done before.

And the open air theatre at Regents Park is fab, so I would definitely go if I didn't have anyone to go with.

Babdoc · 18/08/2019 18:11

I’m widowed, so regularly go to concerts, films, plays and stand up comedy on my own. It’s not a big deal- nobody will demand to know where your minder is, or why you’ve been allowed out all by yourself!
Sometimes I have a nice chat during the interval with people in adjoining seats, sometimes I just enjoy the show silently. It’s all fine. Don’t over think it, OP, just go - you’ll have a lovely time!

AliasGrape · 18/08/2019 18:13

Never a concert (just because it’s never arisen) but I’ve been to a fair few comedy gigs, plays and shows on my own.

Bourbonbiccy · 18/08/2019 18:15

It's absolutely fine to go on your own, and even if it bothered you, once you are in there no one knows anyway that your not with someone next to you.

My dad has been all over the world to concerts on his own, loves the fact he can do what he wants when he wants.

ShagMeRiggins · 18/08/2019 18:17

Was at Skunk Anansie at Brixton Academy last night seated next to a 20-something woman who was alone. She had a blast (well, we all did).

It’s not that unusual and as you’re all fans of the same artist you’re amongst friends.

HeartboxTeddy · 18/08/2019 18:18

DP goes on his own all the time and loves it! He says it's great because he can choose when to go/how to go and get home as he's not waiting on anyone else. And I hate crowded places, so it's a night of peace for me (providing DC sleep).

thedevilinablackdress · 18/08/2019 18:20

Yep, it's great. Stand where you like. Move to a better spot when you like. Have a wild dance with yourself.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 18/08/2019 18:22

I do this! There are some bands I love that none of my friends are into, so I just get a ticket and go. Last time it was Amon Düül
II, brilliant gig!

Sexnotgender · 18/08/2019 18:23

Yes! Love going on my own.

womaninthedark · 18/08/2019 18:25

I go to gigs alone all the time. So much more fun than having to deal with other people's likes and dislikes.

Herefortheduration · 18/08/2019 18:43

I haven't but I go to quite a lot of gigs with dh and there's always people there in their own, I've never once thought they were strange.

Sunflowers211 · 18/08/2019 19:03

Well I'm off to see Little Mix on my own because my kids refused to come with me!Grin

Mixer and proud of it 💃

barberousbarbara · 18/08/2019 19:18

I go on my own. I'm seeing my favourite band later this year and treated myself to a VIP ticket, as I don't have to fork out for a plus one. Everyone else has different tastes in music so if I didn't go on my own I wouldn't go at all. DP did offer to go to a gig in October to keep me company but I know he'll hate the music and it will spoil my enjoyment.

Hallouminati · 18/08/2019 19:24

I went to see Bryan Adams on my own and loved it! Also go to the cinema on my own. DH is a misery so I have a much better time going alone if none of my friends are available.

inevitablytired · 18/08/2019 19:27

I have been to see Nick Mulvey on my own before! Was perfectly fine as its a chilled crowd.

Hoghgyni · 18/08/2019 19:42

I went to see Tears for Fears by myself a few months ago. It was great as I wasn't embarrassed about singing along. Next one is Aha at the Royal Albert Hall. I go to the theatre & cinema by myself too. It's a real treat.

AnathemaPulsifer · 18/08/2019 20:02

Put it up on the Solo Armada website and see if anyone wants to join you. Or just go alone and get lost in the music.
