As in I used that to catch him not that he had those things. Grin

Never had a mouse problem before so was freaking out a bit when I saw one a few hours ago. Set my DIY trap, as obv cant buy a trap at midnight, and it actually worked. Shock

Have reset trap in case of friends. Angry

How did your trap work? What does the ten pence do? Please explain. Ive currently got a mouse or mice in the kitchen. Tomorrow it's operation mouse.

Mileysmiley · 18/08/2019 02:22

Take him far away from your home as possible because they are like homing pigeons.

Mileysmiley · 18/08/2019 02:23

This made me chuckle Grin

noodledoodler · 18/08/2019 02:26

Oh congrats in your catch, very inventive, I trust you now shall do right by your captive creature 😀

PointlessUsername · 18/08/2019 02:39

How are you going to get him out from under the glass?.

You are braver than me.

0ne · 18/08/2019 02:39

Elizabeth, I smeared chocolate around the inner rim and then added a nice big enticing blob, turn glass upside down and use 10p to prop one side up off the floor. Mouse runs under glass for the choccy goodness and knocks the coin as he goes trapping himself!

Mouse will be making new friends in fields outside next town soon enough! Grin

Pointless, already moved the glass! Card under the glass worked fine. Just used the DCs art supplies. Grin

Ooh, very clever, well done!

Lamentations · 18/08/2019 02:45

I want a photo of a mouse in a glass with a 10p and Nutella.

0ne · 18/08/2019 02:53

He's out the glass now, sorry. But if he has any friends who fall for the same trick I promise to get a pic! My DS1 was wanting to set up a camera to film all night! 😆

Well done you! I often use a similar method (glass and card) to catch flies, or mice the cats have brought in.

0ne · 18/08/2019 22:04

So. Dh couldnt/wouldnt wait to set him free so took him to end of row of houses and set him free. The muppet.

10 minutes later the beast strode back into the house via the open back door (guess who left it open fgs) and made himself at home again! Shock

The 10p trick failed! He had it worked out and just feasted on chocolate all last night. But the 5p trick worked like a charm! Same thing but a smaller coin. Grin

So I'm just back from setting him free 5 miles away. Found him a nice wee spot with plenty of cover to keep him safe.

Here’s a terrible pic of my amazing trap! Can just about make out Mickey. 🐁

I've caught mice with just a glass and card. Two of my previous workplaces had mouse problems so I got quite quick at it.

MiltonRoad · 18/08/2019 22:39

Just kill them. If you release them far from home you’ll killing them anyway ffs They won’t know where to get food from and most likely will be preyed upon plus you’re just transferring the problem to another area.

It’s not humane to trap mice.

TheGirlWithGlassFeet · 18/08/2019 22:40

Umm hate to break it to you but it's unlikely you've just got one mouse. We have mice a few years ago. Keep your trap out and see if you catch any more.

TheoriginalLEM · 18/08/2019 22:46

Doubt it was the same mouse! But yes the pp is correct it is pretty much a death sentence releasing them at distance. That said I would Never kill one

0ne · 18/08/2019 22:46

I know there's a possibility of a horde of mice (though zero signs of any so keeping fingers crossed!). Traps will be set for a long time to come!

And no I wont just kill them. I thought I would be able to but I couldn't. So he has a chance in his new surrounding which is the best I could do.

I've told this story before but...
I once caught a mouse in my trouser leg. I WAS trying to catch it in an empty cereal box, but it saw the dark shadow of my trouser leg and in it scampered.

I stood up and tried to shake it out - dying laughing while DH watched and also laughed. With every shake, the mouse climbed higher until I had to unzip my fly, reach in and take the mouse out by hand.

Then have a shower!

FredaFox · 18/08/2019 23:11

I've recently had a curry visitor, only seen it once but have heard it. No droppings, pest control think it's o e on its own.
