Hi have about fifteen minutes til we go out. We arrived yesterday (Europe) and all good. Went out this morning and came back to a really strong chemical smell. Plus white dirt on the bathroom floor and outside the room.

Asked if anyone had been in, initially told no, was it the clean smell from the cleaner, then told maintenance came in. So they then said they would send a cleaner. All good.

Out again by the pool, came back, strong smell. Asked at reception, told the maintenance was silicone round the bathroom. Sent a cleaner up who confirmed it and said to leave the windows open and offered room spray.

I'm pissed off tbh. The bathroom stinks unless you have the window wide open (view on to opposite apartment balconies). If we go out again we can't leave the windows open (insirance) and tonight we will have to I assume.

Google tells me 4-7 days to go - we are only her for 4.

Why don't you ask for a different room?

Rachelover40 · 17/08/2019 18:16

I agree with MmmBlowholes, ask for another room. I think the hotel should have offered that actually.

SouthWestmom · 17/08/2019 18:19

I think they are at full capacity - when I booked this was the last available space. Can't get hold of the rep via the text or phone number so sent an email.

The hotel seem a bit 'so what' about it.

Have you actually asked about changing rooms? You don't need to contact the rep for that.

SouthWestmom · 17/08/2019 18:23

No, I thought they would offer. Maybe I will. Just really surprised at them doing it, not telling us, and then being surprised we were querying it

Well they are not treating their customers fairly. I'm glad you sent an email to the rep - keep on badgering.

I did wonder if the hotel was full as we are in August, that's a shame.

All I hope for you right now is that the smell diminishes quicker than expected.

Thank you. They are definitely full - we booked the last family room. Just so disappointing as otherwise it's nice.

Contact the rep about moving to an equivalent or better hotel

SouthWestmom · 17/08/2019 20:43

Rep text service doesn't respond.

See picture - sent a text to the number and got a reply which appears to reference some sort of food.

Phone number says it's unavailable.

No answer to email sent around 5pm

Am being friendly to staff but I'm fed up. Back from dinner and it's still lingering.
