I'm finally getting round to investigating PPI today

I've fallen at the first hurdle. Logged on to MoneySavingExpert where they advice looking at your credit history if you can't remember all your loans, mortgages and credit cards (I certainly can't, there must be 20 or so over the past 30 years!).
Ok, so set up an account in their Credit Club but apparently Experian can't find me! I think I might have answered one of their identifying questions wrong (about my mobile phone provider) but I don't seem to be able to go back and try again.
Any tips on what to do now?
Is there any other way other than via Experian?
All help very gratefully received.
