Has anyone been for an evening event on HMS Belfast?

Been invited for a dinner event. I'm wondering whether it's like a normal event venue (ie properly heated, comfortable) or if it is a bit cold and damp and, well, ship-py.

It’s very snippy.

Last time I walked on, Prince Charles walked off!

Shippy

I went to a daytime wedding on it many, many years ago. Very shippy ....but bloody fantastic, I got very, very squiffy.

My husband had his Christmas work party there years ago.

I didn't enjoy it. But that was less the venue and more the fact that one of his senior colleagues told me that my back-fastening top had come undone during the speeches and I'd sat there with my bra showing all evening.

As a venue I thought it sounded better than it actually was.

Thanks all. So if I wear a strappy dress in November, am I likely to freeze?

I am fully intending to get ship-faced and stay in a nice hotel after 😊

Aww, memories! I did a lot of gigs there, back in the day (jazz singer). It's warm and dry, so no shivering. I loved that gig! Only downsides were getting the gear on board (PA, guitars), and practically vertical companionway to get down to the wardroom where the gigs were. We, the band were fed, watered and made welcome. I loved being on board a destroyer as my dad had served in them in WWII and the stories he told me came to life.

Enjoy!

I think you’d be cold but I went in August.

I was happy in a dress at an August wedding. It's great but yes, very shippy. Take a dressy coat to go over your strappy dress!
