Please could the hive mind help me!
When I was a child (back in the 80s), I read this book which I adored but cannot remember the title of.
Key details were:
It was about 2 little girls, one from an Asian background (possibly Muslim?) and one white English. The Asian child may have had a headscarf, or perhaps her mum did.
The two little girls became friends and would visit each other's house for tea. On visiting the English girl's house, (pork) sausages were served which the Asian girl could not eat. However, they also had chocolate digestive biscuits which both girls enjoyed.
On visiting the Asian girl's house, (possibly) another dish was served (possibly something spicy?) which the friend did not enjoy. But - yet again - lovely chocolate digestives were served which they both liked.
The book was all about how they understood their differences, and their friendship was strong in spite of them (and they had the chocolate biscuits in common).
Please help! No amount of Googling has ever given me a result
