Please help me find the title of this children's book!

Please could the hive mind help me!

When I was a child (back in the 80s), I read this book which I adored but cannot remember the title of.

Key details were:

It was about 2 little girls, one from an Asian background (possibly Muslim?) and one white English. The Asian child may have had a headscarf, or perhaps her mum did.

The two little girls became friends and would visit each other's house for tea. On visiting the English girl's house, (pork) sausages were served which the Asian girl could not eat. However, they also had chocolate digestive biscuits which both girls enjoyed.

On visiting the Asian girl's house, (possibly) another dish was served (possibly something spicy?) which the friend did not enjoy. But - yet again - lovely chocolate digestives were served which they both liked.

The book was all about how they understood their differences, and their friendship was strong in spite of them (and they had the chocolate biscuits in common).

Please help! No amount of Googling has ever given me a result Sad

I remember this too, it's the chocolate biscuit bit that triggered it!!

Is it anita and me?, I know that's about 2 girls friendship who are different races

I've just googled anita and me and I'm way out, that was in 96!

I remember it as a proper chapter book ( but a slim book) that I would probably have read aged 8 or 9. So that would mean i read it in late 80's. I got it out of the library. This is going to bug me now.
Hope someone can help

It is so frustrating isn't it @13amielsaoranna ?!

I remember it being a fairly simple, short and slim picture book, aimed at young readers / primary school children.

The chocolate biscuits were the lovely, unifying element Biscuit

Thank you @jenthelibrarian - will post there this evening.

Ok something else is coming back to me - I think the Asian girl's Mum served a dish of curried / spiced potatoes, which the other child did not enjoy or was not used to.
