John Lewis - what should I buy?

I need some inspiration please. I have an old £50 voucher to spend in John Lewis which is expiring so need to spend it ASAP. What lovely frivolous thing should I purchase? I don't live near one so can only browse online which always frustrates me and I end up giving up!

Is there anything you actually need? Stuff I bought but didn’t need from John Lewis include a deluxe scrabble set. It has a plastic overlay so the tiles never slip and a rotating board and a very beautiful cheese knife.

A neom Reed diffuser, they smell lush

A nice fluffy bath sheet!

Is there anything you need for the house firstly? Always useful to buy something nice that you might not have spent the money on otherwise.

Failing which, they do make-up/perfumes if that appeals. Or lovely candles/diffusers, as another pp suggested. My favourite is True Grace. Enjoy spending it Op!

Perfume

Can you spend it in Waitrose as well? If so I'd get groceries...
Otherwise, bedding, saucepans, blender or hairdryer, clothes, a dashcam, makeup... Clothes for kids if you have any

PrettyShiningPeople · 15/08/2019 08:10

I was browsing yesterday! So can make some suggestions...

Posh face cream
Storage baskets/boxes
Toys for Christmas
Laundry stuff
Bedding
Door mat

I've also got a JL voucher that's about to expire and am going through the same thing as you. I was thinking of getting a food processor as we don't have one and it would be quite handy.
I also looked at their frames and artwork, rugs and curtains. The last two are difficult to get the feel of online though.
They have a good range of electronics too so you could get a DAB radio perhaps?
They've got a nice selection of clothes as well...

FatTwat69 · 15/08/2019 08:17

Ooh can you buy me a Charlotte Tilbury Bronzed Garnet eye pencil and a Neom reed diffuser please Smile

I could spend a fortune in JL and do so every time I set foot in the place.

curlyrebel · 15/08/2019 08:19

I quite like the Joseph Joseph kitchen range so bits from there is another possibility.

RoseMartha · 15/08/2019 08:20

I too would think what do I need for the house ie saucepans, towels, toaster that sort of thing. If there was nothing I needed I would probably look at sale items and get something each for the kids and if any left over a clothing item for me.

Michaelbaubles · 15/08/2019 08:28

I bought a dual-layer mattress topper recently and it’s like sleeping on a cloud!

sivola · 15/08/2019 09:30

Ooh some great ideas, thanks.

Mattress topper sounds good - which one did you buy Michael? They have loads!

What would be a treat for you? Perfume or cosmetics are my go to and JL have a good choice.

If you're really unsure I think you can get the voucher extended in store for another 2 years. I know that happens if you spend some of it not all.

sivola · 15/08/2019 09:48

Treats for me would be...earrings, stationery stuff, perhaps candies. I'm not into cosmetics or perfume, that would be a waste for me. Was told not to buy groceries or anything for the kids when it was given to me!

The one I got was on special buy - it was £75 but that was king size, and miles better than the cheap old one I used to have. I’ve already washed the top layer (coffee incident!) and it came out great.

RoseMartha · 15/08/2019 09:51

I get told not to buy for kids when I get a voucher but sometimes I do. If it is needed and I cant afford it otherwise I do this.

SwedishEdith · 15/08/2019 09:57

I got one of these www.johnlewis.com/kin-sadi-belt-bag/pink/p4017058 recently.

I love it (and it's not normally 'my thing'). Being handsfree for short trips out feels great easily pleased.

Be1atrix · 15/08/2019 10:48

I was coming on here to say Joseph Joseph kitchen stuff too, like their bendy chopping boards!

Or a Dipytique candle. PURE LUSH

GreenwoodLane · 15/08/2019 13:08

Their cashmere is fantastic. Might cost more than £50 tho.

OldGrinch · 15/08/2019 16:31

The bedding is lovely

Bouledeneige · 16/08/2019 01:13

Lovely plush new towelling bath robe.

Monday55 · 16/08/2019 01:36

Their own brand hair straighteners are pretty awesome.
