Best treatment for warts and veruccas?

IHaveTheLurgy · 13/08/2019 10:01

My NHS area doesn't treat them any more.

I have been using Bazuka extra strength, but two small warts have doubled in size since starting this.

Is there an infallible treatment for them? I have warts on both hands so I don't want to use duct tape there.

Thank you

Apple cider vinegar!!!

I had a wart that the drs tried to freeze off 3 times! It wouldn't budge.

Soak a tiny amount of cotton wool in apple cider vinegar (just enough to cover the wart) place over the wart and wrap area in tape to keep it on there air tight (I used duct tape) leave on over night. I done this for a week and it was gone! Never come back either.

Make sure you buy the Apple cider vinegar with the mother in. Bragg's is a good brand.

Thank you, I'll give it a go. But what do you mean about it having the mother in?

It'll say on the label 'with the mother'

I had one which would not go and started to spread the more and more I treated it. I tried everything surgery, laser and all the expensive stuff from chemists. I'm embarrassed to say I bought a top of the range toy of and had very strong shaking for a minute orgasm. They went overnight, never to reappear. Honest to god it was that, just shock my immune system into work.

IHaveTheLurgy · 13/08/2019 13:15

Crikey.

The mother is the stuff which keeps the bacteria in it alive.

Duct tape for me is the only way forward - it's miraculous.

MikeUniformMike · 13/08/2019 13:28

Tea tree oil works too.

IHaveTheLurgy · 13/08/2019 13:37

I'm giving the duct tape a go, only mine is gorilla tape and as soon as the vinegar squeezes on to it it loses its stick. I think I need normal duct tape.

I've never used vinegar - just duct tape. Leave on til it starts to come off and then change it. It triggers your immune system to attack it. It works amazingly well.

oregano essential cured mine. just a dab on the wart, cover with plaster, repeat for a couple of days and it healed. No sign of any warts since!

user1493423934 · 13/08/2019 23:42

oops should be 'oregano essential oil' Not the pizza topping

Heratnumber7 · 13/08/2019 23:56

Soapona what?? ShockConfusedHmm

soapona · 14/08/2019 00:44

@Heratnumber7 Seriously! It was weird over ten years nothing worked and had a mind blowing orgasm and it went overnight. Couldn't believe it. I research it a little afterwards and verrucas are a virus and yes orgasms can work. I swear it did and I try duct tape and even straight acid. It doesn't work your body needs to fight the virus. 4 years in they have never returned, so I'm delighted. It's awful when you're are stuck with verrucas.

Heratnumber7 · 14/08/2019 10:18

Veruccas etc don't/can't just disappear overnight though. It's not possible.

soapona · 14/08/2019 13:52

Well it went down 48 hours gone completely. I promise you.

thecatneuterer · 14/08/2019 15:17

I've recently had my verruca microwaved at the chiropodist. Fuck me it was painful. I have to return in two weeks to see if that's the end of it or if I need another treatment. It's turned black which I believe is a good sign.

Excited101 · 14/08/2019 16:22

I had one on my toe for ages when I was late teens. Tbh I can’t remember if/what I might have put on it but to get rid of it I just sort of pulled it out. It took a while and was the most painful thing I’ve ever had but it was very satisfying, big fat round white root and everything. It bled a lot.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 14/08/2019 16:50

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/sporner_corner what Sporners don't know about verrucas isn't worth knowing, be forewarned they'll want photos Grin

I got rid of two on feet (mine and DS) - I used bazuka with generous sized duct tape (inch square approx), reapplied and changed duct tape every 3/4 days. Before reapplying I carefully used a (sterilised) sewing needle to poke at it to disturb it and prize it from the sides of the hole its sat in and eventually after a few weeks it came away with the duct tape one day. It worked but obviously its risky! Be really careful to go slow, good luck!

Mythreeknights · 14/08/2019 17:05

I too have tried bazuka, duct tape, acv, old banana skin, gouging it out with a penknife and recently, rubbing it with volcanic pumice stone. Still have it. My problem is that after too long with duct tape or acv etc, it really hurts, so i take the tape off and it grows again.

whattodowith · 14/08/2019 17:12

Vinegar really does help. I put vinegar on some cotton wool then duct taped it to my verruca for a week, it was gone and never returned. That was after trying lots of the over counter stuff (all rubbish).

MrsCharlesBrandon · 14/08/2019 17:25

My daughter has had hers for years, nothing worked we've recently been advised to use Pickles Ointment (ebay/amazon/online chemist) to get rid. They have a specific one called Verrugone and 2 weeks later they're actually going!

It's 50% salicylic acid (bazuka extra is 26%) so you have to be careful.
