When are you buying school shoes?

Dd Is going into y3 and ds into Reception in September. We are away the last week of the holidays.

I can do shoes this weekend or the Sunday before they go back on the Tuesday.

They are growing like weeds atm. I feel like 2-2.5 weeks is going to make loads of difference. I am probably an idiot 😁

Already done.

WorrisomeHeart · 12/08/2019 21:03

I am in exactly the same position and won’t be buying until weekend before. I am also slightly nervous that all the shops will be sold out and then it’ll be a nightmare 😂

DropZoneOne · 12/08/2019 21:07

Already done.

Get them measured, and ask questions - if they are just eg size 1, get size 1 - they have a size growing room (Clarks) so plenty of room. If almost a size 2, get the size 2 - which in effect will be size 3 so still plenty of room.

I did it last weekend (DC the same age as yours) we went to Clarks, who upsize by half a size to get more wear. I do this every year and have so far managed to get a whole school year out of shoes.

Dd always wears through whatever we buy on the balls of her feet. Never ever had a full year out of them. I've tried cheap and expensive. I just hope to get to the snowy weather then we can swap to boots.

Been to Clark’s and bought shoes for both dc 2 weeks ago.

Isitme13 · 12/08/2019 21:16

Have already done mine.

The (independent) shoe shop I use will swap if outgrown and not worn, so the most I lose is an extra appointment at the shoe shop getting them changed.

bouncingraindrops · 12/08/2019 21:18

I bought mine today. Kids go back Wednesday.

mamasma · 12/08/2019 21:20

Bought mine today and DD back on Wednesday 🥳

formerbabe · 12/08/2019 21:22

One down, one to go for me!

Got my ds last week...he's really fussy so when he saw a pair that he liked and school will find acceptable, I snapped them up!

I actually love the Sainsburys school shoes for my dd so I'm waiting to see if they're going to do the 25% sale soon...fingers crossed!

Kim82 · 12/08/2019 21:22

It’s only my 5 year old who needs shoes this time and I bought them on Saturday. She lasted a full year in her last ones so hopefully these will last her too.

lazylinguist · 12/08/2019 21:24

Not buying any for September, thankfully - both dc's still fit fine.

Mammyloveswine · 12/08/2019 21:24

I'm going next week! First thing to the clarks outlet for measuring...then will buy from somewhere cheaper!

MrsJonesAndMe · 12/08/2019 21:24

Going next week

Stravapalava · 12/08/2019 21:25

Next week. We've booked an appointment so we don't have to hang around.

CMOTDibbler · 12/08/2019 21:32

3 days before school starts (to allow for ordering). Also school blazer. Ds has grown several inches in the last few months (13 and 6ft) and I'm taking no chances
