Anyone been to the Alchemist in Covent Garden?

DD is asking if we can go, how much are we talking for a drink?

Do we ask for a bar reservation or table? Is a table dearer

Do we have to book or can we just walk in?

I went, probably mid afternoon, mid week and during school term time. We didn't need to book but tables were reserved for later. I believe drinks were between £12-£20 each but we timed it for happy hour.
We were there far more an hour and incredibly happy when we left, hic.
Terrible phone signal there so very easy to loose track of time. I'd go back in a heartbeat

The alchemist is a chain, you could go in any major city.

@AmIAWeed what time is happy hour? Thanks

This is from the Oxford one so London prices might be higher.
It’s great fun but expensive and I didn’t actually think the cocktails tasted as good as others I’ve had elsewhere.

You can book a table for drinks but expect them to be overpriced and more about the performance rather than a quality drink.
I also wouldn’t advise eating there, terrible overpriced food. Just go for a few drinks and find somewhere much nicer for dinner.

Apologies, I'm an idiot. I was thinking of: escapologist bar, Covent Gardens. Go there instead!!! www.escapologistbar.co.uk/?utm_source=Local&utm_medium=GMB&utm_campaign=Escapologist%20GMB

Ilovemyshoppingtrolley · 11/08/2019 20:12

Oh thanks. Just shown DD and she is having a look now at the escapologist.

Thanks everyone for your help - much appreciated

If you've plenty of time we also went to Sarastro, an utterly bonkers place. We called in because it's on Drury lane and the whole building was covered in plants. We went inside to sober up and thought we were tripping!! The toilets are famous, I didn't feel grown up enough for the adults one and came out with red cheeks!! www.sarastro-restaurant.com/

I've been to both the Leeds ones. They are nice, but very noisy and expensive.

Ilovemyshoppingtrolley · 11/08/2019 20:40

Just showed DD the Sarastro but she didn't fancy it. I have sent a booking enquiry to the escapologist and hoping to get a table for pizza and cocktails before the show.

I would strongly recommend Cahoots as an alternative! It is just off Carnaby Street and is really fun. You do have to pre-book.

We went on a Saturday afternoon, post theatre but pre-dinner. It was absolutely rammed with massive queues for the bar. It was so dark we could barely read the drinks menu. When we did finally get a drink there was nowhere to sit or really stand comfortably so we were squished up by the door. It was really disappointing as we’d wanted to experience the whole chemistry thing but didn’t..,plus the drinks were very expensive and not even that nice! Maybe a less busy time may be better, but it felt a bit gimmicky overall.

What a lovely day we had! Potterimg round Covent Garden and then we went to Escapologist for pizza and cocktails. DD loved it. We were the first to arrive and ordered pizzas and cocktails. By the time we left is was very busy. So glad we booked.

Thanks everyone for your help - much appreciated

I am so glad you and your daughter enjoyed the day. I can't wait till I can prop up a bar with my two!
