Looking for ideas. Friend and I live in the two cities and sometimes meet at a point between the two (I travel by train) we go for a country walk, longish, a pub, visit a garden NT or English Heritage, National garden scheme etc.

We are looking for new ideas. Are there MNers who can help?

Ardingley walk around and into Wakehurst place. Walk starts and ends at the Gardiner's arms which does great food. It's this one www.hall-woodhouse.co.uk/pub_walks/index/west-sussex/page:2 Lovely.

Thanks. We are doing Ardingley. Done it before but it’s a favourite.

There is also a good one at Bolney starting at the Eight Bells, which is also good food. Tis on here: www.midsussex.gov.uk/media/1552/bolney-walk-and-map.pdf

Loxwood also great (round the canals) but may be a little out your way..

Have a look at Firle. Beautiful countryside, lovely village, terrific pub, Manor House to look at and a nice church. Home grown fruit and vegetables for sale outside houses. Close to Middle Farm which has a great farm shop and tours for families. Also near to Lewes for the castle and a nice old world feel
