Can I have a HH? Being admitted with a kidney infection

Thought it was a bad period ... HR 121 , BP 160/96 ... fever etc ... doctor has sent me off in a taxi and off to bigger hospital thirty miles away for bloods , scans etc and possibly an op (that I’m waiting on anyway) . I am terrified of hospitals ... despite having worked in one for four years (left in 2017) as a patient or visitor I’m a mess . Panic attacks etc . No one with me although colleagues said they will try to come up later . I’m scared as I recognised bits of what they were saying eg elevated news score , etc , and just feeling crap . Left my mum at home alone too so worried about her too 😕

Hopefully you can be treated quickly. The main thing is that you get better xx

There is that - I’ve been waiting since 2017 for a diagnostic op !! Last news in June was might have another year to wait , doctor tonight said they might expedite it now ... not that I want an op , I’d rather be in bed at home !!

Hope you're ok OP. Kidney infections are horrible, I was hospitalised with a particularly nasty one last year. What have the hospital said?

They said no systemic infection at the moment - not sure if that just means it isn’t sepsis or something. Took bloods off and scanned my tummy . They did say I could stay overnight/til Monday but they weren’t sure if they would do any more in hospital than they would at home .. discharged with Ciprofloxacin and dihydrocodeine and to see GP again on Monday . Shattered , got home about an hour ago or so ... maybe slightly earlier not sure . I’m having a very heavy period as well, leaked through to the seat in the dayroom , so had to go home in pyjamas ... not a great day at all . £100 on bloody taxis as well ... feel drugged to teyeballs now so hopefully sleep .

Have you got anyone to help you at home? Just to make you something to eat and a cup of tea while you rest? Sounds like you've really been through it. I had kidney trouble as a child and then again in my early 20s, it was absolutely hell so I know how you are feeling, the pain is on a par with labour pains.

You poor thing. Hope you've rested up today and get some help from the gp on Monday

I slept soundly last night ... got up about 12 .. mum has multiple MH problems including seizures etc and keeps saying she’s bored and depressed . Which I totally understand but I can’t do much to change it today . She wants to go out for coffee tomorrow ... not sure , I really think first thing I need to do is phone the surgery and try to sort things from there .

I honestly thought it was just a bad period - I panicked a bit when they said everything else was off too . Dihydrocideine is helping today but feeling sickly too . I’m a bit miffed as I was offered morphine last night and then never got it ...

I think mum is just speaking out loud in some ways because to be quite honest if I wasn’t here (I’m meant to be at uni) she wouldn’t be going out anyway ; me being ill just gives it a focus in some way , and I’m more likely to feel a bit fed up !

On plus side ice cream van came past earlier (like a mobile shop more than anything) and I’m eating M&Ms .. managed a bagel for lunch too !
