This weather is making me want a roast dinner.

I don't often do a roast cos its just the two of us and its all a bit of a faff so it's been months since I last made one. Tomorrow's weather looks equally as rubbish so that's my plans but I can't decide on which meat and trimmings, any suggestions?

chicken, potatoes, carrots and peas?

FiveLittlePigs · 10/08/2019 17:21

Roast beef, Yorkshire pud, roasties and veg. Thick gravy, too. Yum.

It's what we're having tomorrow!

PrincessSarene · 10/08/2019 17:23

The weather made me want a roast too! We’re going with roast chicken with stuffing, Yorkshire puddings, potatoes, parsnips, cabbage and broccoli. And proper gravy of course. I’m already looking forward to it Smile

I always opt for a chicken as it's easier - it's just two of us too!

Use the left overs for a curry on Monday 😊

I roast all of my veg, bar broccoli. Chuck it all in the oven. Super easy x

Sorry but how is doing a roast for two of you a faff? There's only the two of us and I often do a roast on a Sunday. Get whatever meat you fancy, bung it in the oven with roasties and veg and you're done. To me it's easier than thinking about anything fancy.

Schwibble · 10/08/2019 17:44

Same here but can't be bothered to do one Hmm

ClemDanFango · 10/08/2019 17:46

Lamb, honey roast potatoes and carrots, broccoli lovely thick meaty gravy and mint sauce 😋😋😋😋

JuniperSling · 10/08/2019 17:50

Tescos do chicken crowns, which are perfect for two. Some nice stuffing and Yorkshires (we always have Yorkies with any type of meat), stringless runner beans, carrots and roast spuds.

Followed by apple crumble and clotted cream 😋

Too muggy here for cooking...tomorrow is a cold buffet for dd1s graduation.

MrsElizabethShelby · 10/08/2019 18:13

Got a lovely beef stew in the slow cooker for tomorrow already.

Stew, mash, green beans and broccoli cheese all stuffed into a giant Yorkie with a dollop of horseradish NOM

Roughday · 10/08/2019 18:15

I would have lamb but I’m the only one that likes it , tomorrow we are having a gammon joint with all the trimmings and cheese sausage on veg 😋

No peas !!!! I hate peas on a roast

Mybobowler · 10/08/2019 18:31

We've got a beef stew in the oven and it's making the house smell like winter. I'm glad we're not the only ones!

MosquitoInAJamJar · 10/08/2019 18:32

We've got lamb in for tomorrow. Don't care what weather it is, I love my weekly roast dinner.

Greensleeves · 10/08/2019 18:37

Beef stew and dumplings here! And tomorrow is roast chicken and stuffing :)

PutyourtoponTrevor · 10/08/2019 18:40

Lamb for us tomorrow with roast potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, parsnips, Yorkshires and gravy...not forgetting the mint sauce

Belledan1 · 10/08/2019 18:44

Have chops if there is just two of you. Nice and quick

Nononononono33 · 10/08/2019 18:47

We had roast pork and crackling with roast potatoes, Yorkshires and veggies a couple of weeks ago when it was as miserable as this on a Sunday. Well worth it - it was lovely. Go for it and make sure you’ve got a pudding planned too!

mrswarthog · 10/08/2019 18:48

Its 32° here at nearly 8pm. We've been eating salads and things that cook outside on the BBQ for days.

And now I want a roast!

MrsElizabethShelby · 10/08/2019 21:00

@mrswarthog where are you that it's 32 degrees?

mrswarthog · 11/08/2019 18:11

Argeles Sur Mer, Southern France @MrsElizabethShelby - it's a cool 28° now but reached a ridiculous 34° today. DH & DC are scuttling to shade like lizards Grin

Fizzypoo · 11/08/2019 18:13

We're having a half roast. Pork chops mash, loads of veg and strudel with custard for pudding 😍

Dp is serving it up now and I can't wait!

fussychica · 11/08/2019 19:05

I got a fabulous piece of Aberdeen Angus corner cut this week. Had a full roast with Yorkshire one day and the rest with chips and salad the next night. I'm happy to have a roast as long as it's not really hot.

Frith2013 · 11/08/2019 19:08

We’ve just had one. Roast pots, carrots, courgette, bread sauce (because we always have it), gravy and pork loin chops. Can’t think when I last had a big joint, it’s too expensive.
