Talk to me about carrycots and hills

I'm worried baby will slide in carrycot going up and down hills. I know you can attach a harness to d rings under carrycot mattress. Do many people do this or am I over worrying?

I live in one of the hilliest places in England, have had three babies and this has never even crossed my mind! They’ve never slid anywhere.

The only time one of mine slid down was when I had to get the pram up a flight of steps unaided. She wasn't bothered about it and I moved her back up straight afterwards.

The one I have has a velcro belt inside!

I live in a flat area, but had a slightly prem IUGR baby, who was small, very light and skinny. She used to roll around and slide a bit when I tipped the pram to go up steps, so I ended up wedging rolled up small towels/blankets around her to stop this (obviously well away from her face - from armpit level down). Once she was bigger and heavier it stopped being an issue.

@Summerunderway which one do you have? Sounds very practical!

I had a sheepskin liner in ours and did the school run up and down a 1 in 10 hill daily. Baby didn't ever slid about

I would never take my pfb out into town in the carrycot because he wasn’t strapped in and someone could easily reach in and steal him Blush

Silver Cross Jane' off road 3 wheeler. £50 off ebay!! Done hills of Scotland and beaches too!
Keeping it for dgc!!

I had the Jane Matrix for DD, which I got because it can go in the car lying flat but I loved that when using it as a pram it meant she was strapped in. It meant if I did some dodgy pram driving I didn't need to worry about tipping her out 😁

I once walked backwards down a hill with PFB so I could keep pram facing uphill and stop the blood all rushing to his head.

I realised later I was being insane. He went up and down that hill the normal way round many times. As did DC2!

I live in a really hilly place and my 2 were fine in carrycots. Occasionally they would gradually slip down a bit but I’d just shuffle them back up again. No problem.
