Booked holiday, concerned about the pound Vs euro

I've booked some accommodation in Spain through booking.com and as we are not due to go until the end of the year I can't pay them November ie after brexit. I am worried that brexit will cause the value of the pound to drop and we might therefore end up paying much more in real terms for our accommodation. We have to go, it's for a family wedding. Am I worrying unnecessarily? I've asked the website and accommodation if we can pay now and they've both said no. I've just been reading about prepaid travel cards so I was wondering if I could put a load of Euros onto that now and then link that card with my booking.com account but I don't know if that would work.

Has anyone else been in this position and can offer any advice please? Ie wanting to pay for a booking through booking.com now and not in a few months time?

I use FairFX . You can order a Visa card with euros preloaded on it and then pay using that. They also do holiday cash at really great rates.

You can put euros on some cards that is worth looking into.

You could also exchange your spending money now if you want to.

Things could go the other way the, there are those saying that UK economy s stronger than any in Europe.

Why won't they take payment early?

I’d get yourself a revolut card. You can exchange sterling into euros now and then hold it in that currency until you need to pay.

It is what it is OP. I'm not sure those travel cards work for online purchases, you'd have to check that first.

The Brexit dividend is here!

It may cost you a bit more to go to Euroland, but I don't think there is much you can do apart from loading Euro into a designated card or something right now.

Sterling can also rally. Gamble almighty.

Thanks everyone. I have no idea why they won't take payment early - maybe it causes too many problems with refunds if someone decides to cancel.

Be careful though as there could be dramatic developments in October that put off a No Deal which could see the pound rise again then you'd be kicking yourself!
