BBC is not but ITV is.. the Sun and it is on their Twitter account Facebook and their website.. (Hard to find on website)

I just posted a thread about it too and yes it is cancelled.

Enko · 07/08/2019 00:12

I meant Broadmasters Twitter/Facebook and website (realised it looks like I meant the suns :) )

We are staying in Watergate bay at the moment, Boardmasters is all set up. Such a shame if it’s cancelled.

CrispbuttyNo1 · 07/08/2019 00:17

Definitely cancelled. Feel sorry for all those who are already travelling. But safety has to come first. Its on a clifftop and the weather forecast is for storms and torrential rain.

Enko · 07/08/2019 00:19

that is the website link website however has crashed due to so many trying to log into so if you cant get there its due to this.

Message on website says
BOARDMASTERS 2019 HAS BEEN CANCELLED.
Due to forecasted severe weather conditions, specifically high winds, Boardmasters 2019 has been cancelled.

Following full consultation with all of the relevant authorities including independent safety advisors, Devon and Cornwall Police, emergency services and the Met Office, a final decision was made this evening.

The safety of you, the fans and attendees, as well as performers and crew comes first, and the potential risk is too severe for the event to go ahead at this time.

Refund advice will be shared as soon as possible - please follow Boardmasters’ social media for official updates.

We sincerely regret the disappointment to fans, and apologise for any disruption caused to local businesses, performers and crew who were looking forward to Boardmasters as much as we were.

Incidentally the surf school at watergate bay has already cancelled lessons on thurs and fri because the forecast is so awful. Safety comes first but I can imagine so many people are gutted.

I am off to collect son who with 3 of his friends were due to go on the overnight coach. Now returning home.. (I am thankful they didn't get down there before finding out it was cancelled)

RedHatsDoNotSuitMe · 07/08/2019 00:40

DD is gutted. I'm actually quite relieved. Thought it was a bit hardcore for a 17 3/4 yr old in any case.

But, bless her, she's devastated

DS now age 17 went last year and had a blast. He was looking forward to it going with about 20 of his friends. Back home now having collected him and he is chuckling at meme's down in the kitchen. Pretty resigned to what has happened> I feel a bit sorry for him.

MrsEricBana · 07/08/2019 01:35

Poor dd devastated too but it's for the best and she can, surprisingly given levels of excitement, see that. Such a shame.
