Any of you lot bake your own bread daily?

I use my bread machine occasionally, and the bread is always waaaay nicer than the standard sliced stuff. I've priced the ingredients, and a homemade loaf costs about half what we spend on sliced processed bread. Obvs not including electricity but I imagine that doesn't cost too much? The homemade bread only last one day (because it's so bloody delicious) whereas a sliced pan would last us 2-3 days.

I've been weighing up whether it would be worth just making a loaf every day, though it may result in increasing waistlines 🙈

I use mine all the time, but a loaf lasts several days. The bread is much nicer, but I do it because I prefer to avoid all the crap and additives that are in commercial bread.

You could always try using self-control and not eating it all in one day!?

Slice half straightaway and freeze it for toast?

I use my bread maker every day when the DC are home from university a couple of times a week and find the bread is much nicer. Mind you, what we're saving in bread we're spending double on butter.

We make all our own bread and generally slice and freeze anything we don't eat immediately. Homemade bread goes stale much quicker and this stops us eating it quite so quickly, too!

Absolutely - especially as all 4 of us are on packed lunches at the moment. And it doesn't come wrapped in plastic!

We do. Works really well for us. Breadmaker in the week and by hand at the weekend - things like focaccia or rolls.

I use mine every day or two when DS is at home, every two or three days when it's just me and DH. The bread is very nice but it gets a bit samey - the texture of the bread is similar even with different recipes and different kinds of flour, it makes fine-grained loaves so if I want something coarse and chewy I still have to buy it. Also it goes stale fast presumably because fewer chemicals and we need to eat a loaf in two or three days.

Also a bigger loaf means a taller loaf not a longer loaf. You get the same number of slices but bigger, so it just gets eaten up faster!

Daily here when children are home. Don't store until completely cool, slice when cool. I have a bread keeper box which seems to make it last a few days when children aren't here.
