South of France Train travel - Carte Isabelle

Has anyone had one of these recently and can maybe tell me a bit more about it?

Been going to the South of France for years since I was 3, my parents still go and own a static caravan down there. Over the last 15 years or so we have been going down with our own children on quite a few occasions.

Anyway we are going to drive down in a couple of weeks to stay at my parents caravan. Due to my parents getting older we are not sure how many more years we are going to be able to do this so I would love to get to Monaco again. Problem is that the only time I have ever driven in Monaco it was horrendous. The car parks are awful with the high squeaking noise and the roads I am very unfamiliar with.

This has led me to look into train travel. Ive never got a train in France before so looked on google and have found something called the Carte Isabelle. But the information I can find is a little bit sketchy. Most posts I have seen are from years ago.

The SNCF website mentions it, but doesn't give me much detail. It says its for 2 adults and 2 children. We have 3 children so would need to buy an extra ticket (fair enough). It also says can get tickets at stations, but then it doesn't say which stations. The information on the net that I have found seems to differ.

So has anyone had one recently? Is it a good offer?

Alternatively any other suggestions to get to Monaco or where to park in Monaco that is easy to get in/out and easy to get to from the motorway?

Carte Isabelle Family Pass is available all year long, not just in the summer. It’s good for 2 adults and 2 children and gives unlimited travel on TER trains between Ventimiglia and Frejus, and inland to Grasse or up to Tende for 1 day for 35€ or 3 days for 80€. And… you can get all the tourist discounts to the museums, etc.! Buy it from the machines or SNCF ticket office, same as above.

Thanks Bark That was one link I didn't click on myself in my google search as I was getting fed up with different information from years ago, but it is the same I have read elsewhere. I was trying to get proper information from a proper source in my google search that I have been doing.

I am hoping someone who has used it recently can advise. I realise it maybe a bit of a long shot, but thought Id ask anyway.

You are welcome. You'll have seen from the link that the info is last year's, so very likely not changed since. If it had changed, then it's more likely there'd be (by necessity) more recent information about the Carte, lMO.
