Ive messed up our one chance for a summer holiday. It’s raining, are neighbours are a nightmare and it’s not glamping as I expected..

I’m not a snob but feel like I should have expected this coming to a park dean caravan park.

I was sold on the idea of glamping and the pod itself is lovely. My eldest loves the entertainment and swimming pools so it’s not all a disaster.

It’s raining a lot. Ds does not engage in settled activities for more than about 5minutes and is not interested in tv.

The. family in the caravan behind us are loud, the children are either shouted at or left to run riot (my eldest ds has ASD so I’m not usually picky about noise or other parents discipline), the mum seems completely inaffective at discipline and the dad seems like a vaguely threatening arsehole who sits outside drinking and playing music into the night after the evenings entertainment. It would be fine if they all slept in the next morning but their children are awake and loud from stupid o,clock and are always sent outside with the mum whilst the dad shouts loud enough for the whole bloody park at her to keep them quiet.

I wish we’d just spent a little more and opted for a cottage far away from anyone now. My dh works away almost constantly and is completely burnt out. This is the only time he’s taken off work all year and I feel like I’ve made a huge mistake doing a ‘family friendly’ holiday. Kids clubs and the like are a no go as ds’s ASD means he needs a familiar face with him at all time so a child centred holiday seemed like the answer.

I know dh will refuse any more time off till Christmas so this is it. The big holiday and we’re all going to come back more stressed and sleep deprived than when we left.

Could you go out and buy some ear plugs?

errorofjudgement · 05/08/2019 15:22

Have you tried explaining the issues to reception - there may be another unit that’s empty you could move into

Would parkdean move you ? Go and complain and ask to be moved holidays in the rain are miserable but you didn't do anything wrong

Mrsjayy · 05/08/2019 15:23

Explaining issues are much better than my complaining 😀

SilkClayFlowers · 05/08/2019 15:25

Vauxhall Park. Their are no other available pods or caravans.we. Checked.

Urgh poor you although if the noise goes on late phone security they should go round

SilkClayFlowers · 05/08/2019 15:32

Thanks. It’s not all bad. Dh is enjoying a swimming pool afternoon with the dc so I’m just relaxing inside.

I’m always so reluctant to complain about noise as my older ds can make an unholy racket at anytime day or night so I’m always poised to eat my words (of complaint).

I think after 11 is ok to complain about noise I get it though you just want a bit of peace, we used to go to Haven it could be rowdy!

Flower777 · 05/08/2019 15:47

When did you arrive?

I always find it takes me a few days to relax into a holiday before I start enjoying it!

Can you escape the campsite and go and have a nice cream tea somewhere?

Hope it picks up and you end up having a good time.

Aww it’s not your fault! You weren’t to know you’d have arsehole neighbours.
Just count your lucky stars you didn’t go to Bunn Leisure in Selsey
