To tell or not to tell?

This week, the school bus tickets were released for sale.
In previous years, we have had to go to the bus station and pay cash.
This year, the purchase was via an app or the web. The app price was £10 less, not that it has any relevance, but I suspect most people will have bought via the app.

I bought the ticket on Tuesday when they were released. My bank account has not been debited and it doesn't show as pending.
So, do I sit on the £765 until they realise or do I inform them that payment hasn't been taken?

My dh and I have differing a view on this.

Are you sure the app didn't take payment with your credit card rather than your bank account?

twoheaped · 02/08/2019 23:14

I don't have a credit card.
I definitely put my debit card details in.

I would inform them as you wouldn’t want a nearly £800 bill showing up when they find out, which I’m sure they will.

Sit on it a bit longer but make sure there is enough in your account,, DDs lunch money takes a week to come out my account and doesn't show as pending, I only know this coz I accidentally spent some of it last term without realising it hadn't gone out. Also If i pay by card on the bus (in my area where paying by card is new) it only shows up as 10p for a few days but then takes the actual money out. So it could just be they are using a similar shitty system.

Why do you think you should get the best part of a grand and the ticket?

twoheaped · 03/08/2019 06:14

@madeabooboo why do you think I think that Confused?

The money is sat in my account waiting for them to take it, however long that may take.

I think I’d query it 5 days or a week after it. How do you receive the confirmation/proof of purchase/your ticket?

Is there a limited number of tickets available? I wouldn’t want there to have been a technical glitch which means the sale didn’t go through and by the time you’ve sat on it there’s none available.

twoheaped · 03/08/2019 12:01

The ticket is registered on the app and the ticket is there and valid in her name. They are limited, although it appears there is another bus that has tickets available, so maybe they are running 2 busses this year.

It is most odd that payment isn't pending, it was purchased on the 30th.

I shall ring on Monday but I suspect I will piss off many a parent in the process.

It can take a few days, depends how they have set up the app. When payment is processed.
