Quick question for those who know London (central) very well

If I arrive at London Victori at 9.15 on a Sunday morning, is it realistic to get down to Westminster, and onto a Clipper boat getting off at Tower to be at the Tower of London for it opening at 10am?

Definitely not.

The only ferry from Westminster pier that would get you to Tower Bridge on time leaves at 9:16.

But the District line from Victoria to Tower Hill will only take 20 mins.

Download the CityMapper app and it will give you all the info and options you need for getting around London.

TheDisillusionedAnarchist · 01/08/2019 13:52

No, just about possible in theory but not in real life

Cedar03 · 01/08/2019 13:53

I don't know how often the Clipper boats run at the weekends. They aren't that speedy though. You could do it by tube in that timeframe - District line to Tower Bridge.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 01/08/2019 14:04

I suppose I could get the 9.40 one, then arrive at the pier at 10.02 and be later at the Tower?

I wanted to get to the Tower for it opening but also wanted to do a Clipper ride.

Cedar03 · 01/08/2019 14:06

Why not do the clipper ride on the way back?

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 01/08/2019 14:07

Think that'll be the best option.

Are there any mini Tesco or similar near Tower of London?

You are also relying on your (train?) into Victoria being on time plus it takes time to get off/go through the barrier etc.

Including walking it will take about half an hour on the circle or district line.

Lindy2 · 01/08/2019 14:19

If you walk from the Tower of London towards Monument there is a Tesco Express on that road.

HidingRealName · 01/08/2019 14:20

There's

Sharpkat · 01/08/2019 14:22

There is also a Tesco if you head south on tower bridge and drop down to St Katharine's Docks.

Super, you lot are stars.

Dd also wants to go to M&M store and Lego Store. Are there any other must see shops in Leicester Square while we are there?

OP posts:
MadisonAvenue · 01/08/2019 14:28

There's a large sweet shop with an huge variety just a bit further along between Leicester Sq And Piccadilly Circus but Leicester Sq doesn't really have many shops.

Comefromaway · 01/08/2019 14:28

Those are the two my ds always wants to go to as well. (Dd usually heads to a very posh shop selling loose leaf tea).

MidnightAtTheOasis · 01/08/2019 14:29

MinaLuma: the Harry Potter graphic design place is just around the corner from Leicester Square. Well worth a look.

And there’s a pop up Disney Musicals place somewhere nearby.

Comefromaway · 01/08/2019 14:29

The prices in that sweet shop are extortionate!!!!! My two like Orbital comics but thats a bit off the square (by the Arts Theatre) oh, and the Theatre Cafe.

Comefromaway · 01/08/2019 14:30

Disney Pop up is Covent Garden (round the corner from the tube in the opposite directtion to the market if its the same place as it was last year)

HappyHammy · 01/08/2019 14:30

.

MadisonAvenue · 01/08/2019 14:33

Comefromaway They really are, and so are the prices in the M&M store too!

Comefromaway · 01/08/2019 14:35

We were on our way to a show and ds wanted some sweets so I said Ok rather than paying theatre prices we will get some from a somewhere else. As we were running late we waqlked past there and I went in.

Never again! Should have paid theatre prices.

BBBear · 01/08/2019 14:42

You could walk to Covent Garden for shops and get an ice-cream with candy floss in milk train

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 01/08/2019 14:46

I've got a couple of hours set aside the day before to explore Covent Garden.

Can I run my itinerary past you all?

Comefromaway · 01/08/2019 17:40
