Going rate for a teenage babysitter?

DD (14) has been asked to babysit for the first time! It’s a couple of hours a neighbour’s 1yr old who should sleep for the whole evening (I’ll be at home on standby if DD needs anything).

No idea how much she should charge. Does £5 an hour sound right?

I would say £10 x

DD is 17 and gets £15-20 per evening, depending on length of sit. I think a tenner for a couple of hours is about right.

Dd is the same age and has recently started babysitting for our neighbours' children. They pay her about £5 per hour, and always round it up.

Define 'a couple' of hours, two, three, four? Because you say a couple of hours, then say the whole evening.

I would expect a minimum of £5 an hour.

£8 per hour here

BellaMoo · 01/08/2019 15:08

£5 it is!

She’s only doing a couple of hours this time but hopefully will be able to do it regularly.
