Games for holidays - for us and kids

FusionChefGeoff · 30/07/2019 21:11

Got UNO and battleships for kids. We sometimes play backgammon / dominoes / cards / Yahtzee / pass the pigs but looks like WIfi in the campsite is patchy so would love to take some new games.

Any suggestions for things that are easy to pack and fun?!

Boggle!

We played this for hours camping in France as kids.

Also frustration. Very frustrating but always funny!

Keepaddingpets · 30/07/2019 21:16

Dobble is a card game in a tin a but like Pictureka.

Raera · 30/07/2019 21:16

Kubb. A bit heavy but compact and is addictive for all ages!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 30/07/2019 21:20

DS like the card came Zeus on the loose.

FusionChefGeoff · 30/07/2019 21:54

Oh yes some great ideas here. I do like a game of boggle but I'd be worried that the shaking would be a bit loud for our camping neighbours.

Looking up the others now! Keep them coming.. happy to look at suggestions that are more grown up for just us - don't have to be family friendly.

Forgot to put in my OP that I'm looking mainly for wet weather / evening games rather than outdoor ones.

Dobble
Exploding Kittens
Monopoly Deal (a vast improvement on the original in all ways)
Sushi Go
Love Letters

All small for packing. We also love Risk but that’s a big box and a lot of pieces. Also Jaipur, Qwirkle and Carcassone.

ThisIsNotAIBUPeople · 30/07/2019 22:16

Sushi Go
Bananagrams
Splendor
Carcassonne

Card games:
Sevens
Go Fish

ThisIsNotAIBUPeople · 30/07/2019 22:16

Chameleon
Sussed

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 30/07/2019 22:20

Take post it notes - "Guess Who/What I am"

Bananagrams
Rummikub
Top Trumps

Get an online print off picture quiz (or a few!) And get someone to print and seal in an envelope the answers. Can play one adult a team and split the kids.

northernlites · 30/07/2019 22:20

Exploding Kittens & banagrams are great

IHeartKingThistle · 30/07/2019 22:21

ZOMBIE DICE.

I keep suggesting this. It's amazing. I'm going to suggest it on every games thread until MNers realise how good it is!

northernlites · 30/07/2019 22:28

Caftan is also a great game and doesn't take up lots of room

ToeTouchingTitties · 30/07/2019 23:16

OK Play - a bit like connect four, but played on a flat surface and up to four people can play if you buy the bigger sized one.

Shut the box

CherryPlum · 30/07/2019 23:22

Hive

42isthemeaning · 30/07/2019 23:28

Depends on the age of your kids but we played Cluedo every night followed by Top Trumps on our recent Eurocamp holiday.

ineedaholidaynow · 30/07/2019 23:39

How old are the DC?

The Big Taboo (word game suitable for older children)

Forbidden Island (have to work as a team rather than competitive)

FusionChefGeoff · 30/07/2019 23:43

DC are 7 and nearly 5.

Loads to be looking at thanks everyone!

Quirkle is amazing. So is Ingenious.

Highly recommend both.

Mac47 · 30/07/2019 23:58

Card games- shit head (think of a better name!) Newmarket
