Does this sound like an okay pregnancy diet?

I’ve lost my way with food after three months of feeling so sick and only being able to eat beige.
I’m trying to be as healthy as I can but still leaning towards the carb cravings.

So far today I’ve had:

Two weetabix protein with almond milk and fruit

Thai chicken and veg soup

Snack: chocolate rice cake thins, unsalted almonds

Dinner: vegetable and lentil bake with a side salad

Any advice or suggestions? I’m also drinking a lot of water as I’m coming up to 17 weeks and already getting a bit of retention.

Oh god, don't post your diet on MN! You'll soon find yourself eaten alive for daring to let carbs (especially sugar, in any form) pass your lips.

Eat to your hunger, include as much fruit and veg as you can and don't go overboard on the junk and you'll be fine. Maybe try get more calcium than your pre-pregnancy diet if you were at all short.

Are you trying to lose weight? That doesn’t seem like enough food for anybody.

Carbs aren’t the enemy.

OP I survived on milkshake and ice cream for the majority of my pregnancy thanks to morning sickness and reflux, my baby was born weighing 8ib 1oz.
Whatever you can keep down is fine!

@PurpleDaisies no I’m not but I feel very full after eating, and that makes me feel sick so trying to balance that with getting enough fruit/veg and protein.
I know carbs aren’t the enemy but I’m trying to move away from the beige on beige diet from the last few months (literally just potatoes, bread, anything beige was all I could eat)

Thanks @MindyStClaire and @BarrytheFatcat

OP when I was pregnant with twins I was feeling terrible losing weight and only able to eat small amounts of sweet carbs.
I was getting worried after three months and spoke to my obstetrician, she said not to worry at all, dc are parasites and will take everything they need from your body.
My dc were good weights and I was fine as well.
Don't stress, eat what you are able to.

Thanks @dreichhighlands
I’m just feeling stressed about everything I think as we’ve had a little thing flagged on a scan and I have to have more tests and I just want to make sure I’m doing as much as I can diet wise!

That sounds good and a lot more than I'm managing to eat. Well done!

I agree the baby is a parasite who will soak up all the nutrition it needs.

(I'm 14 weeks and still feeling awful)

Bellasblankexpression · 29/07/2019 15:26

Ah @camomila I feel for you, I only started feeling better at 16 weeks and even now I’m still getting daily headaches and feel sick on and off!
