Does anyone have an 8yo girl or an 8yo's dress they could measure for me?

The dress pattern I'm using looks wrong
I could do with chest, shoulder to waist (measured on the back) and shoulder to knee (also measured on her back)

Many thanks

Sorry can’t be of direct help but clothes shop websites usually have dimensions don’t they? You could try having a look on next or similar.

Thanks the problem is they just do height/chest/waist/hips & the length of the clothing isn't mentioned (at least not Asda or M&S)

Boden might have length measurements
I have a 9 year old but she is v tall for her age and in 13 -14 size clothes, only just.
Are you sewing for someone? Couldn't you ask for measurements directly

Blueandredandblue · 29/07/2019 11:28

Actually you could contact a shop and ask for a length of dress measurement. Some shops have online chat.

My DD is 9, but small and the last pattern I made for her she was a textbook 8.

I'm pulling these from memory, but

Height 127cms
Chest 24 ins
Waist 23cms
Neck to Waist ( I think) 19ins
Skirt length to mid calf from waist was 27ins

Thanks - I reckon this is about an age 6

It's 12 inches to waist and 28 shoulder to hem - so unbeleiveably small for age 8!!

Good job it isn't for anyone just practising!

Yikes!

That is small, even by pattern standards. That's going to finish mid thigh.

I'd expect about 32" neck to hem on an age 8, give or take.

At least I recognised it was wrong

Think I need some new patterns to mix things around
