Do you have to wait until menopause? I know it's different for everyone... but wondering what the average is? Is it worth doing ovulation tests?

yes to after menopause.
why would you think earlier?

I think the general rule of thumb is you can stop using contraception two years after your last period if you have your last one when you are under 50, and after one year if your periods stop when you are over 50.
