1 year of no contact - extra rights?

Next week will mark one year since my ex has seen his daughter, or made any contact or effort. Christmas and her birthday has passed since then, and not a peep.

Does this give me any extra rights as her only present parent?

He knows where she goes to school but that's about it, hes never been to a single performance or sports day, prior to this year of no contact from him you could count the amount of hours he'd spend with her over the course of a year with your fingers, no need for toes!

I'm looking into changing her name, as she is known by my surname but legally has his.

Any advice or others in similar situations out there?

No it doesn’t give you any extra rights.

And so long as he is on her birth certificate or has parental responsibility you would need his consent to change her surname or a court order (which would only be granted in the child’s best interests)
