Good afternoon Brew
My ds really suffers from insect bites every summer. We have creams to put on after the bites but are trying to find a good prevention.
GP and pharmacist are not all that helpful.
I picked up some garlic tablets as I heard that they can help but they are for children over 12. Confused
Does anyone know of an alternative or would you be happy to just give them to him anyway? I am quite happy to follow the rules with medication and I don't usually fuck with it, but garlic...?
I know this could be in children's health but I am quite happy to have a chat about bastard bugs and their bites.
TIA.

I'd use insect repellent tbh

I’m not sure but I used to get eaten alive and was told to take b vitamins or eat marmite. I had marmite on toast every morning before and during a camping trip on the edge of a lake (midgie central). I didn’t get a single bite. I now don’t travel anywhere without my jar of marmite!

Thanks Smile sorry, I should have mentioned that we have tried jungle fever insect repellent but it hasn't worked.
If anyone has any recommendations I would be really grateful.
I always get bitten too, it's bloody horrible.
DP and the other DT are fine Hmm

He does like marmite though, so we could try tgat. I am willing to try anything tbh.

I do remember seeing holiday reps in Egypt with their bottles of marmite at breakfast time now I think about it.

Calypso aftersun with insect repellent always works for me. It's not very expensive for a huge bottle in B&M or Home Bargains.

I take garlic tablets and brewers' yeast pills every day for three weeks before a holiday. No bites.
Last year I didn't take my pills. Got eaten alive.

Ah, thanks. I will have a look for the after sun. I have the garlic tablets but can't really see a reason why anyone under the age of 12 shouldn't have them.
I've also heard that avon do a good repellent but it's got mixed reviews on amazon.
I suppose different remedies will work for different people.
